Hopefully he didnt jinx MU  :o

On a serious note, IF and WHEN Marquette gets in, I can see our boys being the cinderella pick of the year. You know how every year it seems like everyone in the country is jumping on a bandwagon and trying to make their bracket unique?? Well with the hype MU is getting I wouldnt be in the least bit surprised if we were the team thats a relatively low seed that people pick to advance to the sweet 16 or elite 8

Lets reel off 4 or 5 more wins before the tournament and we dont have to worry about being "that lower seed"

KipsBayEagle

If you look at the comments for this article on the site, people are agreeing with him.  Marquette is getting  lot of respect from all over.

Let's win the next one!

GO MARQUETTE!!!!

buckchuckler

I love the NM guy saying that they would get MU because we are 15 seed material.  I wonder if he really thinks NM is a 2 seed.

cheebs09

Him and John Wilner must be smoking the same stuff. Glad to see we are getting such positive pub, but to be honest if we get in, then I would be thrilled with the Sweet Sixteen. Heck winning the first round would be an accomplishment. I was cautiously optimistic that we would be in the bubble conversation, and this was before even Roseboro left.

A loss to either ND or Louisville ends this talk.  The teams we beat the last three games in OT were not worldbeaters and none of them will likely be in the tourney to beat again.

HoopsMalone

From the article:

"For as many possible Sweet 16 teams as the Big East has, the Big East has as many cupcakes as the Atlantic-10. The Big East is better at the top than the Atlantic-10, but not by much."

Is this guy serious?  I was not impressed by Xavier, one of their top teams.  The 5/6 place team in the Big East beat them by double digits on a neutral court.  The top of the Big East would pound the A10.

StillWarriors

I hope the team isn't gettting sucked into all this positive press--no room for a letdown right now at all.

Tom Crean's Tanning Bed

1)  Who the hell is Scott Stone?
2)  If this guy thinks the top of the A-10 is as strong as the top of the Big East, that's all I need to know about this guy's credibility right there.
The General has taken on a new command.

Final Four?!?!

MU's best victory is against a team lower than them in the standings!

I can't see how anyone who has seen all of MU's games this season could logically pick MU to go that far.

Probably why he says the tourney could be "George Mason mad"

But yes, you should write a letter to this guy for how outrageous he is.

HOW DARE YOU STONE!

chapman

If we get the draw Chicos' pal Jerry Palm gives us in his latest bracket projections we would have as good a chance as any.

same thing with syracuse.

Do i think we'll make the final four...no way.  However, we don;t get blown out, and if we get hot from outside, why couldn't we make a decent run?  crazy things happen in the tourney.

PuertoRicanNightmare

I can see Marquette having a HUGE bandwagon and laying an egg in round 1. I agree that this tournament is completely up for grabs. Kansas is great...Kentucky in spurts...but there's really nobody that looks unbeatable. And I'll tell you who could be a contender...Wisconsin. I know people won't want to hear that.

Considering that four #1 seeds have made the Final Four only once in recent history, that means that everyone else who has correctly picked a #2 or higher seed to advance to the Final Four did so illogically.  Because it's never logical when a higher seed upsets a lower seed, right?  I bet those #12 over #5 upsets every year are really, really hard for you to figure out, huh?

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

To tell you the truth, this year almost more than any other really depends on matchups.  When there is no dominant team that, barring an extremely hot opponent combined with a below-average game, will win the tournament, it all comes down to matchups.  Sure, some teams are better than others, but if certain teams run into other teams who can exploit a weakness, it's a very likely upset (for example, a team like Wisconsin or Duke, who I think could contend for a Final Four, may run into a very quick, athletic team in the 2nd round and have a very hard time getting out of that).  I think Kansas and Kentucky are the favorites because they have the best combination of guard play and bigs of any other teams in the nation.

Why I do not think we have a chance to get to the Final Four is because I don't think we have the depth and the size down low to do it.  We can beat almost any team if we shoot the ball well, but to win in the NCAA Tournament you need that combination of size and guard play, and while Lazar and Jimmy do a nice job, we really don't have much size down there.  While I think we would be a nightmare matchup for some higher seeded teams (thus I think we can make a Sweet Sixteen, and POSSIBLY an Elite Eight run), I also think at some point we will run into some team that has too much size and athletic ability for us to beat.  We'd have to get really lucky with our draw to avoid that type of team for 4 straight games.

ceh

Marquette can ink some serious cred. tonight with a win against L-ville.  We are simply a middling / overachieving team with a loss.

PGsHeroes32

well if you guys read those replies you would see LouCards is at his usual ways guranteeing a UL win tonight.
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

PGsHeroes32

O and i happen to be the guy the New Mexico fan is refering too. Hes a clown and couldnt read what i said. Im sure you all will remember last thursday when we were a 10 seed vs northern iowa. Duke and New Mexico were the 2 and 3. I said i would rather be the 11/6 game with NI so that we could get UNM before Duke. That stupid inbred took it as me saying we would beat New Mexico and would make the sweet 16 easily. Wow.

Your concern could be well placed. Cooby was seen strutting about like the nuts on the boulevard yesterday.
