Marquette: The national coach of the year race could easily start and end in the Big East. Sure, UNM's Steve Alford will be in the mix, but it's hard to argue against the jobs done by Syracuse's Jim Boeheim, Pitt's Jamie Dixon and Marquette's Buzz Williams. The Golden Eagles coach has taken a team that was supposed to be down this season but continues to win games it must to earn a tournament bid. They have won three straight overtime games on the road against Cincinnati, St. John's and Seton Hall. The Eagles next face Louisville and Notre Dame at home and have a real shot to end their season with 12 Big East wins. No one predicted that finish in the preseason.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

Have to agree.  The only other person I'd throw in the mix is probably Kansas State's coach.  Matt Painter, as well....that Hummell injury is going to kill them, however.

I can't see how anyone would be ahead of Frank Martin right now. I know nobody expected Pitt and Cuse to be this good, but absolutely no one thought K-State could be in the mix for a #1 seed, and still possibly a share of the Big 12 crown. Pitt was a #1 seed, Syracuse was a #3 last year...while KSU didn't even make into the tournament as tied for 4th in the Big 12 at 9-7.

Boeheim will get credit because he has been around for so long and is now a legend. Watch out for Calipari getting credit because the team is young.
“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” - T.E. Lawrence

+ 1 on the lack of buzz for Frank Martin. especially considering that the Big 12 is easily the second best conference in the country.  I would hate to run into any of those tourney teams come march.

Buzz getting nominated for this is great, considering the work he puts into his team.  Well deserved.  Whether he gets it or not, the mention of his name as a coach of the year should go great lengths with MU's recruiting efforts to come.  Great players want to play for great coaches, and his name will now receive notice.
