What if?
« on: February 24, 2010, 10:51:34 PM »
We run the table and finish the regular season at 12-6 and in 5th place in the big east.  Say win one and lose one in the Big East tourny.  What type of seed do we get?  I would say a 5, 6 at the worst.  I think we still have the potential to be anywhere from 12 to 5.  Amazing what these last 3 games will determine!  Its going to be fun!  Who would have ever thought this would be happening 4 months ago?

I just hope whatever way it turns out we don't end up in that dreaded 8/9 seed line. So I actually am hoping we win out now because at 12-6 I don't know how we can't do better than a 8/9 seed. What do you guys/gals out there think?

You weren't hoping we'd win out before?  ?-(

This year, I'm just going to be happy if we get there.  Any seed movement is a bonus.

west VU could easily lose 2 of 3 remaining and if we win out we could get the double bye....

Thank God.  I thought this was going to be another DePaul game thread.

I agree with Doris.  A 10-12 seed is much better than the 8-9.  I want 5-7 or 10-12.  But I don't want to sound picky.  Just making the tournament this year is an amazing accomplishment.

i really want us to just be in the tourney but if we get an 8/9 game that will truly be dissappointing. I would actually enjoy a 11 or 12 seed alot seeing as really no 3-6 seed actually scares me to death. The 1 seeds would punish us pretty well with the size of cousins, aldrich etc...Playing in the 7/10 game wouldnt be terrible whether we are the 7 or 10 dont matter. I think we can play with most of the possible two seeds.

Who cares if we're an 8 or 9? This season was supposed to be NIT all the way, wave goodbye to Lazar and apologize to him for a rebuilding senior year. I'm amazed (though not as much now) that it's almost March and we're even discussing SEEDS.

What would be more fun in a season that wasn't supposed to be anything anyway? Being a 7 or 10 seed and disappearing in the multitude of average NCAA tourney games? Or being an 8 seed and getting a chance to be a giant-killer?

Be realistic, as much fun as I'm having this year, this isn't a FF team anyway, so let's enjoy the wild roller coaster ride and try to take a Goliath down with us on the way!

Because a sweet 16 or elite 8 is a lot better than losing by 1 to a #1 seed in the second round.  Expectations change!

Look, I think most realize this isn't obviously a FF caliber team, however, with the right matchups(like not having to face a 1 seed in Kansas in 2nd round) I think this team can get to the Sweet 16. Personally, that would feel like a FF berth in some ways with what expectations were of this team coming into the year and everything else that has transpired.

Exactly. I would love to just see this team get to the final 4 this year. That would be something special in and of itself.

Okay, I can see it that way, too.

My point was simply......can't believe we're even arguing about possible seeds! In March! 2010!

Love it......

Exactly, this is pretty awesome from what was expected preseason. Hell, some people had us wining 4-5 conference games. I knew after that Old Spice Classic that this team would be much better than predicted though as I'm sure a lot of others did too.
