Game 27: St. John's/Talking about bigs

New York -- Anyone remember the Marquette Golden Eagles' last game against the St. John's Red Storm?

More specifically, how awful St. John's was?

The scene was the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden -- the Red Storm's home court, no less -- and St. John's was coming off a first-round victory over the Georgetown Hoyas. MU, meanwhile, was in the midst of a four-game losing streak after Dominic James broke his foot, and needed desperately to win this second-round game.

Great article/interview with Buzz. This might be a dumb comment, but if I was a highly recruited big guy, say 6'9-7'0 and was searching for a team that I would fit in with right away and win, I would really consider Marquette.  If they look at our team, they would realize that we have great, quick guards and a lack of inside presence which they could fill right away. They would have a shot at a starting job in the best conference in the nation with some of the best guards in the nation.  It might be the coaching staff that doesn't want to integrate a significant change in the offense for a big guy, but the highly recruited bigs should at least consider Marquette if they want a shot at starting right away with a great set of guards.

We have been saying that for the past 5 years...

I agree, if i was a talented big man i would come to Marquette for sure.  You would immediatley make an impact and would always have good guards to support you.  the problem is.... no big men ever come here.  I still can't figure out why?

Maymon wasnt exactly "big" but that tool didnt play much. Then of course as we all know he bi**hed out and bailed on us.

I remember how terrible they were and I took this picture to document the carnage.  Maybe we could incorporate this into the banner they will display if we win?

edit: downsized 4 meg picture.  4 megs!
