Warrennolan predicted finish
« on: February 22, 2010, 12:38:23 AM »
Predicts us to finish 19-11, 10-8 in conference and a 7th place tie just ahead of Seton Hall.  A final RPI of 68 going into the Big East Tournament

That's scary territory if we lose our first Big East Tourney game and upsets happen to teams like Butler, Siena, Gonzaga, Pac Ten Tournament, etc.  I still think they need to win one more road game and both home games to be a lock

If they beat SJU, I will firmly believe that they will make the NCAA tournament. I think that they beat ND on senior day, and expect them to win one of the other two. That would get them to 11-7

So, on to the biggest game of the season (for now), SJU!

I cannot imagine us losing to ND either.  We might be playing against the best inside scorer in the country that game, but we rarely have problems with them at the BC.  Even in the Novak shot game, we were in control of that game if I remember correctly.  I would be very confident in a 2-2 finish at least with a win at St. Johns.

If we beat ND and SJU, then we definately seem to have SHU's number the last few years and Loserville definately has had our number too.  So, I can see 3-1.

This doesn't get us in without a win in the Big East Tournament.. Period.

That plus 1-1 in the Big East Tournament is bubblicious, and is probably a 50/50 shot depending on mid-major conference tourney results (hoping for no upsets). 10-8 plus 2-1 in the BET likely gets us in.

But if we want to feel good about ourselves on Selection Sunday we need to be 11-7. Simple as that.

Not as much as you'd think. Marquette didn't take their first lead of that game untill 13:39 of the second half, and at one point in the first half trailed by as many as 11. It was a nailbiter in every sense of the word.
