Sorry if this has already been posted (haven't gotten through all of the posts), but something really jumped out at me last night.  We took a pretty significant number of 3-point attempts off the dribble (as opposed to catch-and-shoot), and I could be wrong, but I think only one of them went in.  I know it's not something that is tracked statistically, but I really hope the coaching staff is taking note of this and coaching the team that we are not a good enough 3-point-shooting team to continue this trend.  This is especially true for those who are struggling most in three-point percentage.  There were too many one-on-one moves and not enough of the crisp passing that led to our 8-game winning streak.

I agree, and it didn't look like we were *really* running our offense last night.  When we looked good, it seems like we get a number of passes (at least 4 guys get a touch), and then  someone decides to attack or shoot.  Many times last night, it looked like everything was happening from the top, we were trying to force the ball inside too much, or we rushed a shot.

Maybe my memory is skewing how our offense looks when we win as opposed to when we lose, but I does seem like we hurried things more last night than we should have.

I've been moaning about this during the in game chats the last few games.  It seems like we hit 50% on the catch and shoot threes and about 5% on the dribble and shoot threes.  Murff, who has astute things to say fairly often despite his reputation, has also commented many times on how much shooters in general do when the threes come off of penetration and kick.

Its really simple to me.  Our offense is most effective when the three soph guards are penetrating and creating offense.  That ability is not in Cube's bag of tricks yet and I imagine it must be a grueling task for the three guards over the course of a long season.  A tired player settles for jump shots.

Calvin:  Nobody thinks I'm a genius.

Buzz Williams' Spillproof Chiclets Cup

DJ in particular I have noticed is a lot better when he can pull straight up and take the shot, especially from distance. Off the dribble, his jump shot is not so much there.

or for another example

DJ needs to stop trying to be DJ and Steve Novak at the same time.

Domisteve JaNovak must be destroyed!!!
