A Lazar three to force OT turned this into a "gutsy win", and a "gritty performance by a team that never quits." He doesn't do that and MU loses by a couple and it's "we suck!", "Buzz can't coach!" and "Hayward blows!!!".

Ahhh sport. Insane in the big east.

“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” - T.E. Lawrence

Far more stress watching the game than participating. Been both places

Agreed. A loss and the sky would be falling with 2 straight L's...as opposed to MU being one of the hottest teams in the BE now having won 5 of 6.

Really, that summarizes the whole "internet forum" season.  We've had flashes of great basketball, flashes of bad basketball.  Good and bad wins, good and bad losses.  Everyone reacts to them differently.

Had we just sucked out of the gate and were 10-16 right now, there'd be a lot less flip-flopping.

That's pretty much the life of a bubble team.

I couldn't agree more.

Your theory also triples come tournament time.

One wrong bounce of the ball, and a coach/team "Can't win when it counts", etc. etc.

internet forums (this is no exception) breed rushes to extremes. before pitt this board was humming with a positive vibe. after pitt everyone was ready to go headfirst off the cliff. anonymity makes people less likely to temper their opinions.

It's interesting to watch who's posting, too.  There are a slew of doom-and-gloom "fans" that flood these forum after a loss just to tell everyone that the sky is falling.

The problem with the internet forum is that things never just "are". They are either the best, or the worst. It's we are either the best, or we suck. It's never, just a part of the game like it is a lot of the time. But I digress, and am just as guilty as anyone...and that's what makes the forums fun/painful.

The difference maker in the "Razor Thin Margin for Error" yesterday was our senior leadership.  While they didn't play too well the first 35 minutes, Lazar, Mo, and David all came up HUGE when we needed them most.  MU's leadership was superior to UC's yesterday......the difference between a W and L.  Thankyou Lazar, Mo, and David!

That is 100% true.

Played bball in grade school and high school and even had to shoot FT's with the game on the line (luckily made them) and I get far more nervous and angry watching sports than participating.

Never say never .. It depends on how hard you look.  Plenty of people are realists (although look how they're treated!)

Generally speaking, people see what they want to see.  If they hate message boards, they will find example after example of people behaving badly.   If they hate Chicos, PRN, Murff, 4ever, etc, etc .. they will find examples of how awful they are .. missing (or skewing) what they do add that is interesting or constructive.

I think these forums are what they are.  A collection of fans, some saintly, some sinners.  The vast middle tends to just watch the collision.

Of course.  That is because you were in control.  As a fan, you are not in control, but you are still emotionally invested.
