Women's College Basketball
« on: February 18, 2010, 03:06:24 PM »
On a recent Saturday, I noticed that several sports cable networks were showing women's college basketball rather than broadcasting men's games. I found that kind of annoying and a waste. I'm thinking that any of the high school boys teams ranked by Rivals.com in their Top 100 could beat and probably blow out the top 25 women's college teams. Is that crazy or am I correct? How good or bad is the level of play in the women's college game?

I don't watch women's sports under any circumstances.   I wouldn't even watch the MU women if they ever made it to their version of the Final Four.

To me it's not about whether a high school men's team could beat most NCAA women's teams or not. Its the fact that I have no idea under what circumstances a women's college basketball game would garner better television ratings than any men's game, including high school. I'm positive ESPN could rerun a 1993 World's Strongest Man competition and easily have better ratings. The only thing worse than seeing women's basketball or softball on ESPN is poker (which has utterly no business being on ever).
“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” - T.E. Lawrence

I have no doubt the top high school boys teams could beat top women's college teams.

Different sport but I know that the Minnesota High School all star hockey team beat the USA Women's hockey team in 2006 after the olympics.
