According to the Score in Chicago, forget who was talking... Dixon threatened departing if Pitt joined the Big Ten.  If true, and Pitt took it seriously, we may have him to thank for keeping the Big East together a little bit longer.  My guess is that sooner or later it will break up but I will enjoy it while it lasts!

If you think Dixon would have any influence over Pitt's decision to join the Big Ten, you're nuts.  Pitt didn't join because they weren't invited...and would join in a second if they were regardless of Dixon's threats.

I will have to figure out who was talking last night on the Score.  The man said that Dixon threatened to leave.  I think if you are trying to decide whether or not to join the Big Ten this would be brought up as part of the discussion.  Neither you nor I were part of the discussion, so I will not state "you're nuts" for saying it didn't play a role.

I wonder if he is related to the New Rochelle Dixon's - Biff and Courtney. They are such a lovely family. Courtney has done wonders with the Junior League here in Westchester County.

It wouldn't play a role.  Pitt isn't going to turn down a multi-million dollar windfall for the sake of its basketball coach.
