in his Weekly Watch column, he has very nice things to say about MU  including that ,if JB does not get BE coach of the year, BUZZ should.

The Pickle

I think either coach would be a good candidate.  I would argue Buzz had to replace 3 players who were all 4 year starters, lost his 2 true post players, and his anticipated starting PG and prized recruit was injured before the season even started.  Often the coach with the best record wins, but given the circumstances I think Buzz makes an excellent case.  What about Jay Wright?

HoopsMalone

Wright should be in the mix, but Syracuse and Marquette were supposed to be rebuilding rather than being a top ten team or a bubble team likely in the tourney, so our coaches should get consideration for that.  Id love to see Buzz get it, but Boeheim is probably the front runner if Syracuse keeps it up and finishes first or second.

If Marquette gets into the polls and stay there/rise, Buzz should get the nod.

Cuse and Nova were EXPECTED to be there. MU, not so.

Cuse wasn't expected to be there until they beat UNC.  They jumped from votegetter to top 10 status.  Value that win now.

Good to get the pub, but if Syracuse continues their run this year and eventually gets a high seed in the tournament (yes, I know Cuse lost to the Ville today), I don't see Boeheim not getting the award.  I'm not saying that Boeheim has done a better job than what Buzz has done with this team, in fact I think that Buzz should get C.O.Y. if things continue to go well, however the award usually goes to a team that places highly in the conference.  I don't see this team placing anywhere better than 5th.  Should be an interesting debate as the season closes.

Jamie Dixon was in a very similar situation to Buzz, with replacing some serious talent, and has done a great job as well.

Coleman

How does the selection usually work? If Boehiem were to get the National COY award, would the Big East pick someone else? Which do they announce first? Would be cool if Boehiem won it and Big East gave it to Buzz.

dwaderoy2004

I think the only way buzz wins it is if MU wins out.  At that point, he would be close enough in conference win % to justify comparison.  If we finish 13-5, and cuse and nova are around 15-3 or so, when you factor in expectations, buzz has a very strong case.
