For those who don't understand why margin of defeat matters...

"No. 23 Georgetown steamrolls No. 12 Marquette"  http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=270410046

If that doesn't bother you, that's fine, but I don't like seeing headlines like that about my team.  That is why I was bothered by the 18 points.

I am over it.  I was over it 30 minutes after the game.  We were in a very tough position and the loss wasn't a bad one in any way.

I was only posting this to show why I care about the margin of 18.  Some people 3 days ago had noticed that and responded that they didn't understand why anyone would care about the margin of the game.

So it matters to you. That's fine. Words like steamroll aren't generally used by the Big East Standings or the Selection committee. Say we finish up in first place in the BE, will the margin of victory and/or defeat in any of our games mean anything come March 11th?

I'm sorry - I didn't mean for this to be taken so seriously.  I'm not trying to say I'm right or anyone else is wrong.  I just wanted to point out my reason for caring about something.  If you disagree, please just let this thread go.  Hell, at this point, even if you agree please just let this thread go.

To answer your question - no it won't, obviously.  Still, I don't like reading that headline on Feb 13th, no matter how I feel on March 11th.

It all evens out.  UW and Georgetown both felt like 10 pt losses.  One we lost by 4, the other by 18.

I didn't post anything about this, but I was bothered.
seemed to me like GTIII was doing a bit of nose rubbing in the dirt- being up by an unsurmountable number of points, yet his big guys were in there until the end.
was it because he wanted a more lopsided score for the headlines?
does points vs. opponents come into play at tourny time as a tiebreaker?
or is it just his philosophy to play the starters regardless of game status?
don't know- don't care that much... now.
then it made me want to kick their asses that much more during tourny time for what I saw as a bit of disrespect.

but that was then.
now I'm just fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnne.
 :'(
no, really.

Actually we had our starters in and were fouling until the end, trying to make it a game somehow.  I have no problem with what JTIII did.
