Hey, for those of you more familiar with the drive to Allstate Arena. I may not be able to leave Milwaukee until about 4:45-5 on Wednesday afternoon. Luckily its a 7:30 game, which helps. Will I make it there in time for tipoff? Or should it be a pretty smooth ride and just take the 1 1/2 hours or so?

How will the tolls be?

marquette09

knowing from the experience of going home to the chigoland area around those times on weekdays, its going to be a long ride.  Tolls shouldn't be that bad w/ and Ipass but the closer you get to Chicago (especiall the closer to O'Hare your get) the worse the traffic will be.  I would say that you should make it in time for tip but you can look forward to a long ride full of slow moving traffic.

Indeed, make sure you have an iPass.  It's a no-brainer, even if you rarely drive thru Chicago .. ipass tolls are cheaper, and there's no waiting in line.  It's a $10 deposit, and $40 in pre-paid tolls for an outlay of $50.

I'm not sure if there at all of them, but it says you can pick them up at Jewel-Osco stores as well as online.

I got mine at jewel-osco.  The snow forecast may complicate things..., I too, am going down after work and concerned about traffic.

It's a tough call...  Have you practiced passing on the right hand shoulder recently?

You can make it, but it might require driving like an "Illinois driver." ;D

I think you should make it with time to spare, but just to be sure, make up as much time as you can from Milwaukee to the 94/294 split. I was working in the area last week and 294 south was pretty heavy every night from the split all the way to O'Hare.

We are lucky the snow came today. It would be a nightmare if the game was tonight!

consider "not feeling very well" tomorrow morning ;)

Make it more like the Cheese Curtain to the split. I hate Kenosha County speed traps.

MU gimp ONE

i decided to take 1/2 of a vacation day tomorrow so that i for sure have enough time to get down there.  Then just going to use the other half on monday to make sure that i have time to grab something to eat and drink before the Nova game since its a 6pm start.

Might I propose murf's suggestion of Spaten Lager?  :D

Um youre going to be pushing it trying to get to the all-state. I left at 5 for a 730 tip time at the United Center (on a Thursday) for a Bulls game and I got into the United Center at 732. There was huge backups before the first toll and at the Junction. The all-state is further away AND you'll hit the rush hour to the suburbs AND you'll hit O'Hare traffic. If possible I would leave at like 330, youll get there at like 530 but its a lot better than leaving at 500 and getting there at 8

I just drove through the city on my way to ISU on Friday at 4pm. The Gurnee toll was pretty wide open. Stay in the middle lanes because I found that sometimes, if you're lucky, the cash lanes will be wide open while the IPass lines are a bit congested.

Once I started seeing the airplanes, things got slower, but really you're almost there anyway. Make up time from South Milwaukee to Kenosha, Kenosha cops are everywhere. Also, you FLY from the outlet malls to the toll booth in Gurnee, there is never a cop in that stretch.
