Syracuse, N.Y. – Unable to make up for their huge size disparity for the first time this season, the Marquette Golden Eagles were pounded on the boards and in the paint in a 76-71 loss to the Syracuse Orange on Saturday afternoon.

Syracuse, ranked fifth in the nation, out-rebounded MU, 46-21, and out-scored it 56-22 in close as the Orange improved its record to 4-0 against the Golden Eagles since they joined the Big East in the 2005-’06 season.

Conference player of the year frontrunner Wesley Johnson had 22 points and 15 rebounds to lead Syracuse (19-1, 6-1), while Kris Joseph came off the bench to contribute 14 points and 11 rebounds as the Orange shot 58.5% for the game and 64.3% in the second half.
