I know that sounds really insane right now, but watch it will happen.

New Era Warriors

You are insane. We just lost to a team that hasn't won in 24 big east games without the head coach and leading scorer and with more MU fans there. What gives? Nothing.

Boone

Stop it. We won't beat Syracuse. Won't even come w/in 15 of them.

Or we'll be up 6 with 1:20 left and lose.

MUsoxfan

It doesn't matter who we beat. The team did themselves in tonight. Contenders don't lose to DePaul. Hell, pretenders don't even lose to DePaul. There are probably 250 teams in the country that wouldve beat DePaul tonight.

We couldn't handle DePaul's zonish defense.  What makes you think we will handle Syracuse's?

nyg

Maybe win the opening tip, thats if its deflected.

I don't understand how this same team that was capable of sticking with and beating anybody two games ago now can't come within 15 of Syracuse. Every team has bad games, and this team in particular will have big ups and downs. If we beat Syracuse are you saying we'll go undefeated the rest of the season to the NC? Why is it that losing means we can't beat anybody, but winning means squat?

How can sports fans be so emotional? Teams lose ALL THE TIME. Do you have to rip your heart out and stomp on it with each L?

DePaul is the lousiest team in thge BEast!!!

Guess what--they just beat our butt.

Just saying.

Unjustified optimism. Of course, I hope it happens.

I'm on board.  We will beat Syracuse.

ecompt

We will bounce back and play much better against Syracuse, but we will likely get our asses kicked by that zone.

Lighthouse 84

I'm on board that it will be a much closer game.  Will the Warriors win?  Anyone's guess at this point.  But sometimes you play to the level of your competition.  It shouldn't happen with a team like Depaul, but it did.  It will also happen against Cuse.

Would a win at Cuse erase the loss to Depaul in the minds of voters?

Yes.  It would turn the DePaul loss into a fluke.

That's only if they count my vote, though.

It might erase the loss in the minds of the voters but it won't erase it from the minds of the loonies who are taking this one loss to define an otherwise remarkable team.

I was certain we were going to beat Nova when we played them the second time. We almost did. I think the guys coasted through the first ten minutes last night, fully expecting to come in blindfolded and tromp all over DePaul, and then were so thrown off when DePaul held their own that they didn't recover from it. It's a bad loss. Big effing deal. Bad losses happen all the time and then the rest of the season goes on. If anything, this is a huge kick in the a$$ to our guys - though I am not convinced they needed it. They've played with more heart and grit than I ever would have expected 3 months ago. I hope those out there who are taking this one bad game - this one totally uncharacteristic game - as the end all be all to the season can come around and support these guys. They still have a lot of games left before March.

And I think we have a shot at Syracuse. These guys have a fire lit under them now. They'll be prepared.

Yes, Willie, we know you are negative.     Thoughts on going forward?   Just once to see what it feels like and to leave the rest of us stunned.

I think either MU pulls the stunning upset or gets blown out of the building.   Last night felt like they hit bottom with another choke and close loss.

They should come out desperate and play like the season depends on this game.  But will they?

Jacks DC

Horrible loss last night.  I don't see us winning at Syracuse but could easily see another close loss.  Syracuse is vulnerable to teams that can knock down threes and stay with them in rebounding.  Marquette has a lot of similarities to Pitt (although less talented), which showed that if you get hot from outside you can beat them.  I think MU got its bad shooting night out of the way and will be competitive, but I just don't think these guys can get it done against a quality team on the road.  Hope they prove me wrong.

damuts222

They won't get blown out, most MU teams bounce back from losses such as this. I expect Buzz to whoop them up in practice before the game. Syracuse better be ready because were going to be ready to play Saturday I expect us to take a lead early on, I root for MU no matter what!
