Two clowns hosts stated MU fans were the most sensitive sports fans they'd ever seen and then proceeded to make this joke:

Question: How many Marquette fans does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

Answer: 7, one to screw it in and 6 to complain how much better the lightbulbs were in 1977.
"Give 'Em Hell, Al"

Wow... evidently one of the job requirements at WSSP is "never having strayed outside the borders of Milwaukee county."

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

That is a pretty good one.

It's pretty much an exception when you find sports radio that doesn't suck. Hearing about sucky sports radio rates with hearing that Hugo Chavez blamed something on the US on the non-surprising news scale.

LA

The morning show hosts on WSSP are a couple of clowns, especially Mike Wicket (sp??)

He knows NOTHING about basketball, pro or college. He once stated that because Dwight Howard doesn't have much of an outside shot that he was about the same skill level as Ben Wallace.

Skatastrophy

What is WSSP?

NM, just looked it up.

Q:  How many AM radio DJs does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A:  Just one.  They're experienced lightbulb-changers from their 2nd jobs as janitors at Marquette.

How many Badgers does it take to screw in a lightbulb?    Just one.   After all, it is the Harvard of the midwest and they invented lightbulbs in 1994.      And if it only takes one Marquette person to change the lightbulb, they must have cheated.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

Hey now!  When I worked at MU as I student, i screwed in light bulbs!  It was really easy money with many breaks, and a good look at the scenery!

How many ND grads does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

Answer: 100, 1 to do it, and the other 99 to obsess about it for the next 50 years.

GOMU1104

WSSP is an absoulte joke of a radio station.

Considering it's a ripoff from:

How many UW fans does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

5, 1 to screw it in and 4 to tell you how much better they can do it than you.

How many Notre Dame grads does it take to change a lightbulb?

Just one. He holds it up to the socket while the world revolves around him.

Anyhow, doesn't our complaining about what a couple of clowns on WSSP (WSSP???) have to say about MU kind of prove their point?

MUfan12

It really is a joke. Ever since they lost out to 540 on MU's radio coverage, they've taken every chance to rip MU.

My favorite was the day after the WVU game, their afternoon host (who is from Michigan) says "A great day in Wisconsin sports yesterday, Wisconsin wins again at home and Marquette loses a heartbreaker."

They don't even try to hide it.

Guys...you're proving their point. It was a joke. Who cares?

A little balance here everyone. Before you all spout off on the show, it helped if you listened to it vs. going off on what someone claims was said on the show.

The part of the show that I caught was how they were talking about whether it was smart or not to take on a project like Mbao. Doug, the main host, was clueless about him from a development-standpoint of college big men. They also failed to keep things in perspective about why he's even playing. At least Wicket (co-host) tried to do that by pointing out Junior and Maymon and Otule weren't on the court and if they were, Mbao wouldn't even be smelling the court right now.

Just because some guys rip or tell a joke about MU, it ain't the end of the world. The station has been very complimentary to Buzz too. And it should be pointed out that Wicket was very much supporting Buzz and saying what a great teacher he seems to be.

Being called sensitive is completely untrue! In fact, I'm so upset about that accusation that I'm going to go cry in my room while I write in my journal!

I too was maintenence man at McCormick Hall and the YMCA building (East Tower)... it was actually pretty fun.

Yep, this thread really shows the lack of sensitivity we have as a fan base.

How many Notre Dame grads does it take to screw in a light bulb?

10. One to screw it in, and 9 to talk about "how special it was" to screw in a lightbulb at Notre Dame.

And 2 a.m. snow shoveling!

Given their ratings I think the most surprising thing is that 2 people on this board claim to have heard the show.

I honestly didn't know that station was still on the air.

At first glance (and I live in MKE) I thought that it was a station in Stevens Point

Completely agree.

Also, it has some truth to it. We do look backwards quite a bit (girls were uglier, more bars on campus, better nickname, cooler coach, beer was cheaper, drinking age was younger, etc. etc.)

We have our fair share of "glory days" posters.
