FULCE
« on: January 07, 2010, 09:54:15 AM »
A couple comments on Fulce:

Why does he start yet only get 10 minutes of play?  He had 4 Offensive rebounds in 10 minutes!!  6 total in 10 minutes.  I thought he played good defense and was agressive on offense.  Did I miss something?

Apparently, you missed him getting flat out abused in the paint. He's weak, real weak.

There is a reason every pick and roll happens with Fulce's assignment.  He can never recover after hedging the screen

great rebounder for his size, he has great hands and arms that seem 10 feet long.  he seems to get 2-3 rebounds a agme out of no where.  However, after that if we are only going to play 2 forwards and typically match those 2 up with guys 2-6 inches taller and 20-40 lbs bigger our best bets are clearly Butler and Hayward.  i think Fulce has a place on a team but he needs a traditioanal Big out there for him to play a 4.  he cannot play the 4 or the 5 on defense with another SF at the other 4/5 he is just not big and strong enough.

I appreciated Fulce's effort.  When he gets an offensive rebound, he needs to take a Dennis Rodman attitude.  Either tip it in, or grab it and get it out to your talented scorers.  Him going up with it and getting blocked helps nothing.

Mboa getting a few minutes where Fulce could have been getting in could motivate Fulce to earn more minutes.  It's always an adventure when Buzz plays our bigs, but against G-town, they were able to contribute.

Fulce starts to take the tip.  DJO doesn't start because it appears Buzz likes to have him be the spark plug off the bench.

Fulce had a key stretch at the start of the second half where I thought he pulled down 3 offensive rebounds when we were having a hard time getting the offense started again.

Would have been an ugly stat to the second half without him.

A little OT.... I know the guys that manage the site are doing their best, but I was in the WIKI and noticed that Maymon's picture is still there and Fulce is missing.

I am not sure you understand a WIKI.  The whole idea is that all of us can help maintain it.  If you think a change is needed you can make it.  ;D

Or maybe DJO wants to come off the bench...plenty of stories of sure-fire starters that wanted to sit to start the game...

Stokes or Fisher (I forget which one; 'Nova last year) preferred it that way.

Obviously, Fulce did not get the Tim Maymon memo that small forwards should refuse to play center. Fulce's not a center, but he does the best he can.

That's his main problem.  He's just not very strong...and I'm not sure he ever will be.  Doesn't have the frame for it.  Regardless, he hustles and apparently can score occasionally.  He's a good guy to have out there in a limited role.

I'm a huge fan of it.  I just reverted to a "Beavis and Butthead" post.  Jimmy's shot still has me in a good mood.
