MU 62, No. 12 Georgetown 59

The Marquette Golden Eagles finally came out on the right end of a nailbiter.

Led by a season-high 18 points on 6-for-6 shooting from three-point range by David Cubillan , 12 points and 11 rebounds from Lazar Hayward and a clutch defensive stop and free throws in the waning seconds by Jimmy Butler, MU exorcised some demons on Wednesday night with a 62-59 victory over the Georgetown Hoyas at the Bradley Center.

The win helped MU (10-5, 1-2 Big East) avoid its first-ever 0-3 start in Big East play, and its first 0-3 start to a conference season since 1998-'99. It also got the Golden Eagles back to some more favorable footing as they head out for Saturday's matchup at No. 6 Villanova, which scored a 74-72 win in Milwaukee in the teams' first meeting last weekend.
