QuoteThe whole problem with the whole Buzz situation was he didn't want Jeronne to out-do anybody on that team until his sophomore year. And that shouldn't matter - if he's going to help you, he's going to help you. They didn't want to play the game right, so now we're going to watch them lose every game. That's just how it works.

Also sadly it sounds like Tim is making the choice of where to go for Jerrone:

QuoteTim Maymon, who was scheduled to speak with representatives from Arkansas and UCLA on Wednesday, said he's trying to help his son find a program where he'll be happy.

You hear stories about parents of athletes, but it is hard for me to believe that there are people who are like this.  I am no longer mad about this situation.  I only feel sadness on a few levels.

Agreed.  What a sad, sad situation.  I honestly can't believe any coach would want the forthcoming obstructions and distractions, because it will happen eventually.  It should make for some interesting follow-ups this time next year.

I was really hoping that Maymon would be the PF beast we needed in the worst way, but now I only hope that Maymon one day gets away from the beast known as his father.

TallTitan34

It should say something when you are meeting with the father and not the player.

NavinRJohnson

Just sad. I feel for the kid. I really do.

Looks like TOS is going to have to "Clear the Air" again

I haven't been to that board for a long time, but I guess I need to be reminded why every so often. The word lame simply doesn't do it justice.

ATWizJr

Sad, small-minded, vindictive response which speaks for itself.  Feel sorry for the player, though.

I wish I could watch every game.  ;)

Man they are lucky, must have the DirectTV sports pack.

Hands down my favorite article of the year.

Thanks Tim, you are who we all thought you were, and now you are proving it beyond a shadow of a doubt.

rocky_warrior

Lol - I hadn't seen that scout thread.  Ah, good old IWB, "clearing the air" with a PR story that had the rough edges removed so that both MU and the Maymons could have been happy.  Unfortunately, TM just can't keep his trap shut.

The problem for Tiny Tim now is his kid likely will be an underachiever. The old man is putting so much pressure on his son. Pathetic. Jeronne is likely to end up at a second tier school because most coaches will steer clear of the circus. Maymon is not good enough to warrant dealing with the father.

RubyWiscy

Wow! The quotes from TM are just incredible. And the picture speaks volumes as well. For JMay's sake I was hoping the speculation about TM's behavior was overblown. Guess not.

Maybe they should skip the aggrivation of college, wait a few months and declare for he draft. Those NBA coaches know how to use a player right.

groove

glad we don't have anything to do with TM anymore. A scandal waiting to happen for any team willing to hook up long term with these two.

Can't we fold this thread into the thread about the women with the big rack?  Let's just keep all the boobs on the same thread.

Well, time to move on.  I look forward to the future recruits.  See Ya!

Hmmm...

I've tried to take a lot of the "Tim Maymon legend" with a grain of salt.

A lot of things get blown out of proportion these days. He's simply a father looking out for his son. He's a little too public about it, but I figured he wasn't so bad.

However, this article, and specifically these quotes really illustrate that Tim doesn't have an accurate view of his son or college basketball:

""We'll discuss what are their plans for Jeronne," Tim Maymon said. "We're not doing another Buzz issue. The whole problem with the whole Buzz situation was he didn't want Jeronne to out-do anybody on that team until his sophomore year. And that shouldn't matter - if he's going to help you, he's going to help you.

"They didn't want to play the game right, so now we're going to watch them lose every game. That's just how it works.

"You don't bring a kid in and not use him the way he's supposed to be used. So this kid has left the state of Wisconsin as one of the premier players in the state. "

Good luck to the next coach that takes on this project.

I love Jeronne's game, but I'm not sure he's going to get a good chance to develop with his father so heavily involved.

ATWizJr

And, as my parents used to say, "good riddance to bad rubbish!"  (meaning the father, not the son.)

SCdem@MU

There is absolutely no chance that UCLA would offer him a scholarship. Drew Gordon left UCLA midseason under very similar circumstances.

There is no way that Howland would take him.

Pure hype by Tim.

Markusquette

Let's see him play side by side with Christopherson at Iowa State.  What a tandem!

Speaking of which, where is he going?

I didn't realize "playing the game the right way" was defined as making sure one player and his father were happy with his minutes and shot attempts.

Tim Maymon obviously has no concept of what winning basketball begins with. On a side note, is there anyone who can convince Jeronne to get a restraining order on his dad... just for his own good.
