I'd like to nominate Scottie Reynolds as one of the top five Warrior/Golden Eagle killers of all time.

In forty or so years of watching MU and dieing a little bit with each heart-wrenching loss Reynolds has to be on the list.  To qualify, a player would almost have to have "killed" Marquette more than once, thus conference foes and long time rivals are most likely to make such an inauspicious "Top Five".

Others that immediately come to mind for me, in no particular order:
2. Kelly Tripucka--Notre Dame '78-82
3. Francisco Garcia--Louisville  '02-04
4. Nick Van Exel--Cincinnati '92-94?
5. Rick Mount--Purdue 1968-69; 1year, one shot, but it was a real "killer."

Reece Gaines' 30 footer still gives me nightmares.  That shot, after the fadeaway 3 Diener hit about 3 seconds beforehand was the strongest nut punch I have ever felt.

Ari Gold

Jerry Smith? He's not that great but the Buzzer beater from 2007 still pops into my nightmares

Jay Bee

When I was in school, I remember hating all the Bearcats, but man... I recall Danny Fortson on a couple of occasions especially.

Is there a relatively easy way to search and gather Fortson's (or any other player's) performances against Marquette?
The portal is NOT closed.

Chili

Steve Logan. unnatural carnal knowledge him.
But I like to throw handfuls...

PuertoRicanNightmare

How about Brooke Lopez...sure it was only one game, but good Lord!

It's funny...I wonder if other schools would put MU guys on their lists. Didn't somebody from Louisville have a list of MU players they hated...starting with Diener, Wardle and Mike Deane?

T.V. Diener 34

Every time I look at Brooke Lopez I want to punch him in the face

How about the 2006 Commencement speaker, Elaine Chao, referencing that in the worst commencement speech of all time?

Some of those guys on UNCC always seemed to kills us, too

PuertoRicanNightmare

How about that game by Austin Croshere...or the one by that dude from Alabama?

Croshere was unconscious against the Warriors!

Spaniel with a Short Tail

No matter what UNCC ever did to us, it can't compete with what Al had Jerome Whitehead do to them!

David Rivers, Notre Dame. Game must've been in 86 or 87, but he took the ball a la Danny Ainge, full court to win the game. (In fact, he did what Scottie Reynolds seemed to do all day on Saturday.)

EDIT: Oh my. I just looked it up and it was in the 84-85 season, at home...the first game against ND in Rivers' freshman year! No wonder I have such a persistent agony thinking about him. It happened my freshman year and we kept playing and losing to Notre Dame. We went 0-8 against them in my four years at MU. Arggh.

For me Jean Felix has to make the list.

One person I forgot...the ironclad Marquette basketball buzzkill and nimrod of all-time:

Fr. Al DiUlio!!!

Dwight Clay from ND when he hit the last second corner shot to break Marquette's multi-year home win streak.  It was on national TV and both were top ten teams and the media was making a big deal of the win streak.  Allie McGuire flies past to block the shot and Clay pulls it back, waits for McGuire to go by and then swish at the buzzer.   I believe he also hit the key shots to beat Wooden and UCLA in a game at ND earlier in the 72-73 season to end their overall multi-year win streak.

David Rivers was the first.   Also my freshman year.    A couple of years later, David Boone missed the front end of a 1-1 and  ND came down and made a buzzer beating putback.   Dolan, maybe?    So this current rut is nothing new.    Jeffrey Dahmer was quite the 'Marquette Killer' too.     Man, when they showed his apartment the first time on the national news, I did a spit take.

I was down in FL for SB and my roommates were getting up to grab me a beer everytime that nobody jacked up and drained three after three.  They were cringing but it was nothing compared to the repeated punches to the face.

Diego Guevara.  That dude was the epitome of a killer.  I don't think he knew how to make a shot squared away, thus all of his daggers were from absurd video game angles.  I think he played every single year we were a member of C-USA, no joke.

I still can't get over that shot.  What was that 2001-2002?  I remember screaming at the POS trash Gaines family as they taunted and attempted to instigate fights with every Marquette fan they passed.  The worst part about it was his shot was horrible and would have been mocked if he missed it.  Instead he looked like a damn hero.  Similar to the crap Garcia hit a few years later, except you knew, you just knew Garcia was going to make it before the play even started.

Guevara from Charlotte is a good pick. All those blown kisses hurt. Don't forget Jobey Thomas. Dude could light it from anywhere.

Always feel like Tory Jackson from Notre Dame plays his best against us.
