Regular season conference games....we did beat St. John's last year in the BET.

D James' injury has the most to do that.  Marquette has not been the same since that 1 point loss to South Florida though, I guess.

That should tell you why MU usually comes out on the short end with the national media. Close games only go so far.

Not sure what the point is...they have lost games to teams that were/are better than them. It isn't any more complicated than that.

Should we not be getting tired of losing games to teams "that are better than we are"?

Williams is still playing with hayward, Acker and Cubi. When will his players step up? Not sure who recruited Butler, but they better run some plays for him.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

Are you seriously saying Butler hasn't "stepped up"? That guy has been unbelievable for us! Last year, when we needed a sixth man bad, he stepped up and brought his A game. This year, all we really have is Hayward, two Horizon League quality guards, and a bunch of new guys. Butler is playing pretty darn well considering the circumstances - he's been asked to produce a lot quickly and has done so.

Let's see...one of "his guys" blew his Achillies out in September (Junior). Before that, another one of "his guys" had a heart ailiment that ended his career (Liam).  Since November, another one of "his guys" broke his foot for the 2nd time in practice (Otule) and another's Daddy pulled him out of the program (Maymon).

So he's got 6 of "his guys" to play with right now. 2 of them (DJO and Buycks) are major contributors thus far, and the 3rd (Jimmy), the one you say we don't run anything for, has been one of the most offensively efficient players in the country the last season and a half.  The other three guys are a wiry SF playing C with basically no knees (Fulce), a beanstalk that everyone knew was not ready for prime time, but had to play this year anyways (Yous), and a guy who spent a lot of his last 2 years of HS battling injuries that oozes talent (EWill) but the coach is trying to figure out the proper way to harness.

Sure, maybe you can complain EWill of all of them could be used more (and I somewhat agree on that).  But I think for you to say that none of Buzz's guys has stepped up is completely asinine when 40% aren't even available to play and 30% of them have known limitations at the current moment. The ones who can have stepped up; with some good health and player development over the next 9-12 months, several more will be ready to step up this time next year.

Depressing.  But .. to an extent, the last 2.5 seasons .. MU has had 34 'big' games versus top 50 teams (a huge number of games) .. but walked away happy 12 times.   (Pomeroy)

That's why I feel so ... spent.  Yesterday, with a minute to go and a 2 point lead, my wife and I started theorizing how we would lose the game.

We've seen this movie so many times.
