Nice to see him playing, but why 20 feet from the hoop in a bad zone??

rocky sez: sorry, had to correct the topic title to spell his name correctly

Agreed.  I saw him throwing his hip out on a high screen on one possession, and then on the alley oop, the point guard threw it over Mbao's head when he was on the top of the key while their big man catches the lob for a dunk.  He needs to be protecting the paint

Just to be the first to say it, its mbao, not that I really care.  In fact someone always has to point it out.

Simple really.  He isn't strong enough to defend the post against any of the guys that UW has, even the bench guys.  But if you throw out a look that no one has seen before, it's going to take them awhile to adjust to it.  It's not an inherently bad idea, but the execution wasn't great.

While I agree that Mbao should defend down low there are two things I liked about him playing on top:
1) Buzz was trying to show something different in the defense and
2) Mbao is really athletic for someone 7'-2".  Hopefully he can add some strength to contribute down the road.

I thought the same thing, but I didn't like the philosophy.  I thought Buzz got nervous when they got down early so he went to that zone because he was afraid of a blowout.  My thought is to just play MU ball and go from there...but I'm not the coach, and I don't have to answer to anyone for a loss against UW.

If you are referring to me, I was just commenting on Mbao's play today.  I think EWILL gets in when the coach decides he can help the team win.  No discussion needed in my book.

Maybe, but lets recall that he did the same thing last year against UW and it worked.  MU hadn't played zone all year, and he broke out a 1-3-1 that really confused the Badgers.  Sure it wasn't "MU Ball" but sometimes going against the grain is exactly what is needed to win the game.
