My buddies and I have been calling him Sir James Butler all season.

Jimmy F*cking Butler.

winner. JFB for short/the company of ladies/the uptight.

#MUBB

He's been J Butta since day one.

"The Butterfly" (to symbolize his incredible metamorphosis as a player)

I do like "The Jimmy". I'm going to suggest waynehead, from the 90's cartoon

he looks like jamie fox to me.  I keep waiting for him to rip down a board and start singing some Ray Charles.

The Jimmy. Tough as nails. Forged on the anvil of adversity. No stranger to pain, his soul calloused by the cruel twists of life in a barren Texas town. Despite these travails, or perhaps because of them, he journeyed north with a dream. And that is how he entered our world. His quest became our reward. We were moved by the sheer poetry of this encounter. Exquisite eloquence taken greyhound form. His artistry has that harsh elegance one finds in Thai silk or the bamboo forest...at once both refined and coarse...the yin and yang of life given impeccable expression through raw energy and graceful dispensation. The Jimmy delivers these lines like Olivier interpreted Hamlet - with a verve, panache, and audacity that only genius can dare. He must be The Jimmy...He can only be The Jimmy

Really?

I don't know if anyone else watches Friday Night Lights, but I think he looks a lot like Landry and refer to him as such.

Clue

At first everyone made references to "the Butler did it".  It reminds me of the old board game "Clue"?  You would try and figure out who committed a murder and one option was "the butler did it".  Jimmy had a clue and that's why he improved so much from his first year to this year.  He "murders" other teams with his outstanding play.  Can't you hear the Bradley Center yelling "Cluuuu...e" after he makes a great play and those not familiar with the nickname asking "Why are they booing #33?  He just made a great play?"

Speaking of that... Can we get Jimmy's Butlers back in the student section... those guys were hilarious

If a nickname isn't obvious and clearly reflect a universally observed trait, characteristic, or play on name, then he probably doesn't need one.

Otherwise, I suggest one of the random names listed in the above posts.

I also like

Dark shins, Grape Ape, and Mr. Hizzle.

I was going to point out the obvious flaw in your comparison (the FNL kid is white) but I zoomed in on the photo on the left of the page and I have to admit I think I see it.

I see the resemblance as well.  Landry also looks a little like Matt Damon; although, Damon does not look like Butler.  I guess the transitive property does not apply in this case.

His nickname should be "Miley" because of the party in the usa singing at disney video.

He's obsessed with Hannah Montana. He even has her picture on his iPhone.
