Like the weather outside, this one was ugly.

But after having lost their last two games in disappointing fashion, the Marquette Golden Eagles certainly weren’t unhappy with the outcome. Sparked by 19 points from Jimmy Butler and a defensive effort that netted 20 turnovers, they dispatched the UW-Milwaukee Panthers, 71-51, in front of a smallish Bradley Center crowd on a snowy Tuesday night.

Coming off their home loss Saturday to North Carolina State, when they allowed the Wolfpack to scorch the nets to the tune of 72.1% shooting over the final 20 minutes, the Golden Eagles this time were able to get the Panthers off-balance long enough early on to build a double-digit lead, and then maintained it most of the rest of the way.
