I'm sure that Buzz wanted to win on Sunday but I have to wonder how often the decisions are teaching points and how often it is straight in game coaching.

We have all let someone that works for us learn through experience what would've taken longer through observation.

So ... do you let Lazar back in with 2 fouls at the end of the 1st half so that he can learn now?  ... do you let the team press for 25-30 minutes so they know how hard they have to work and how tired they are if not in shape?  ... do you draw up an end of the game play for DJO so that he can see what it is like, vice Lazar?  ... do you hold back some time outs so the team has to push through?

I don't know.  What I do believe though after this past week.  Buzz has proven he can recruit and now he has shown that he can teach.  I don't know the % but recruiting is maybe 85%, teaching the game 10%, in game 5%.  Bottomline, he is teaching to get where we are today and I like what I see.

I think he did draw up a play for DJO at the end of the game. DJO had the ball in the lane with an option to drive or dish it out to Buyck's. Unfortunately he threw the pass instead of driving to the hoop. He should have taken it to the hoop. If he did not score or get fouled we had time for a rebound or a quick foul. Buyck's shot would have been an all or nothing deal as time would have virtualy expired if his shot did not go in.

I have been thinking about why Buzz didn't call a timeout right after they crossed mid-court.  It has been said again and again we are a young team, don't young teams do better if they have a set half court play drawn up with 9 seconds left.  That set play the for Lazar worked pretty good the last time down the court.

I would have loved to win the game, but perhaps Buzz was trying to teach his team, learn what his team can do, and see how they would react in that situation.     The game meant nothing in the long run.    Learning and teaching for later.

DJO had a great game, and I am sure having the ball in his hands with the championship game onmt he line produced some butterflies - his Put DJO in that spot again and he'll take and hit it.  It was a learning experience I think.

Very proud of the team's efforts the entire tourney.  And Buxx is doing a great job.

Sorry radome but I think you are reading way to much into this.
Why did he put Lazar back in with 2 fouls.  Because he knows that the team plays better with Lazar in there, he wanted to keep FSU down going into the half and he thought he could steal the last couple possessions without Zar fouling. Next Case
Why did he press for 25 - 30 minutes.  Because it negated our height disadvantage.  He knew we would get killed in a half court game with FSU and guess what it worked.  Next Case
You draw up a end of game play for DJO because Buzz wanted to get to the hoop, Zar had a 7 ft guy on him, Butler was exhausted, using those guys as decoys keeps the big guys guarding them out of the paint and DJO had shown time and again he could beat his man.  Good plan, didn't work, next case.
Hold back time outs to exhaust your own team.  Come on.  Buzz likes to hold his time outs for the end.  He has shown that before.  Maybe he should have called time out during the run.  But honestly the 60 second blow a guy gets during a time out doesn't really help much with the kind of fatigue these guys were fighting.  He needed so sub somebody But as he said Monday on his show:  Maymon was out after getting his bell rung, Fulce was ineffective, DB was ineffective.  EW hadn't played in the 3 games at all, maybe he should have but with the game tightening up putting in a cold EW would have been a heck of a risk.  The other 5 were on the court.  There really were no decent options.
If Jimmy makes 2 free throws down the stretch or the FSU player misses the go ahead shot the headline is "MU holds on to upset FSU" and everybody is talking about Buzz the genius
