Granted - he is not a buzz type player, he is putting up some numbers in the early going at Iowa state: See stats: http://espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=36626

You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

Thank you for hitting that shot from the corner, against Cincy 2 years ago.

MR.HAYWARD

i think that is simply wonderful, i am sure scott chrsitopherson is a great kid and deserves good things to happen to him.  he simply would never see the light of day on the MU bench he would be firmly seated next to Frozena,  a celler big 12 or cellar dweller big 10 ;) type team is best for him, sort of like stepping down to the JV to get some minutes.

bilsu

I think he was better than most people give him credit for.

Right, we couldn't use a spot up shooter on this team.

Scott Christopherson would be the best shooter on this team.

He fits well as a role player off the bench.
I struggle to see how he would've started for us especially if he couldn't hang with DJ in the scrimmages.

And also worst defender and ballhandler - at least among the backcourt players - two issues that would keep him from any significant PT competing against Buycks and DJO.

But does that mean he would get minutes?  Steve Novak is the best shooter on the Clippers (a horrible team) and most games he could probably wear flip flops on the bench because he isn't getting pt.

I agree with Pakuni... really bad defender but given our lack of depth at guard this year (see Buycks posting in another thread as a scary reminder) we could use him.

I generally agree with you, but having a shooter like him on the floor would have been helpful last year, and would be helpful this year too.

MuMark

We will see how he does in the big 12 but as of now I think their is very little doubt he could help us.

He is not turning it over and is shooting it lights out. 5 assists in 29 minutes against a better team then any we have played so far.

The fact that he struggled against DJ 2 years ago means nothing. Who didn't struggle against DJ?

Maybe he has gotten better since he was here?

It does happen.......kids get older......learn more.....work hard on their weaknesses and actually improve.

PuertoRicanNightmare

Wasn't there a rumore that Christopherson pummelled one of our recruits in a scrimmage?

I liked him, by the way. Hope he does well at Iowa St!

MR.HAYWARD

Wow some people are really dumb when it comes to basketball.  IS he a good shooter?  sure he is these are probaably the same people that say Ewill and otule should play more.....If you cannot defnd your positon you will not play and Buzz is no different than 99% of the coaches out there in this regard.  Chrsitopherson would sit next to Frozena and maybe go in for a minute here or there if we saw a zone.

otherwise he would never play, he was one of the worst dribblers i have ever seen at Mu for a guard.  he literally could not dribble or do anything with his left hand, additionally he was slow.

Here is a question for the experts who would you like to remove in place of chrsitopherson this year?...and next year?
thanks for your answers.

oh lastly...here are the 3 point shooting prcentages for our guys...Butler-80%, Buycks- 50%, Acker 38%, DJO 43%.

I will take those percentages and everything else those guys bring to the table.  even Acker and Cubi are more valubale can SC push the ball like acker or defend like cubo or handle the ball for that matter as well as either one?   If we had SC this year and not Acker or Cubi we would be in trouble.

SC an OK player on a terrible team playing against terrible competiotn and has hit a few more threes than ordinary over a short time frame.  absolutely nothing to get excited over and no reason to wish we still had him, especially when you look at our current roster and next years

Boognish_MU

I don't think he would play very often on our roster.  He would give the student section another name to chant at the end of blow outs though.  I think he would steal minutes from Big Rob too.

He defriended me after he transfered, so I can no longer wish him well.

I know you are a creature of extremes... and while I partially agree with you, I just don't think the kid is as terrible as you think he is.

TheButlerDidIt

We have a spot open this year as it is; noone would have to be replaced for this year.

The percentages you threw out, Mr. Hayward, are for three games against three teams rated lower than 280, I believe, according to Pomeroy. Butler (who's obviously a good ballplayer) shooting 80% isn't going to last, you know that.

This team will not continue to shoot .355 from beyond the arc.

Chill with the "stupid" comments. People are posting opinions and calling an opinion stupid is a bit irritating.

TheButlerDidIt

I apologize. Swap "stupid" for "dumb".

Ok... This leads me to a question.. It seems that quite a few people on here are facebook "friends" with current and former players, based on the posts about status updates, etc.  If you are friends with these players, do you know them from school, ie classmates, or is it simply a "fan/follower" situation?    I understand that for some of these players who have aspirations of a career playing ball that a friend on facebook is simply another way to market themselves, but the whole thing seems odd.

I like to follow the players their online social networks because sometimes players will announce or react to situations before you can hear it elsewhere.  For example, there was a post today the DB is injured (http://www.muscoop.com/index.php?topic=16215), and this was learned because DB put an update on his Facebook.

Just another news outlet to me.

Alot of players over 5'10" didn't struggle against DJ. Just ask Brandon Jennings. For the most part, think about it, James struggled against himself.
As for Scott, doesn't have have the quickness to play guard in the BE.
Maybe he has gotten better since he was here?

MuMark

Brandon Jennings? lol....That is the standard now?

Ok I stipulate that Scott isn't as good as Jennings........ ::)

Iowa State has a decent team...they are not horrible. They have a first round pick playing center and Scott is somehow managing to get 22 minutes a game for them.

7 minutes more a game then Chris Colvin I might add....who we recruited, offered and hosted on an official visit.

If you can play in the Big 12 you can play in the Big East.

I'm not saying Scott is going to be all conference but to suggest that he can't play at this level because he struggled as a frosh(coming off an injury no less) is just silly.

I bet if you go to the Iowa State board they are thrilled to have him.

Maybe he didn't fit Buzz's system...which is fine....but neither do Coobie or Acker.
