Lot more to it than that.

And Christopherson wasn't cast off.  He chose to leave as soon as Crean left.  If Crean were still here, Scott would be too.

Only other thing to it is getting caught hotboxing during the summer.  If it didn't look good to use that as an excuse that something else had to be made up then so be it.  If there was a lot more than 4 scholarships < 3 available spots it would and should have been resolved much earlier than a couple days before the kid was to arrive on campus.  The only other thing he could that could have got a kid abandoned by MU and happily added to Duquesne's roster in a week at that time would have been insulting the Harbaughs.

Christopherson didn't fit Buzz's system or ideal type of player, so he wasn't going to be scoring in double figures every game this year if he was still with us.  He wouldn't even have made double figures in minutes.  Call the situation what you want.

Who was the head coach who recruited that entire lost class?

I believe some players departed AFTER that coach left not because he was going to stay.

Ding ding ding....we have a winner!!

I wish we had a spot up shooter like him on this team.  His defense wasn't great as a freshman, but if he's a Big 12 player, I think he could have done well in the Big East as well.

Was this a looking in the mirror Stuart Smalley-type post?

The scholarship situation was a problem going into that season (3 schollies for 4 players), and it was ultimately coming down to Hazel or Saunders losing out for obvious reasons.  If I remember correctly, Saunders got in trouble at home in the spring/summer prior......think he was in a car that was pulled over that had marijuana in it.  Damien was tied into the problem which made an easy decision for Crean to make.  Saunders was released.

Honestly...I dont know the EXACT circumstances surrounding Saunders' departure. However, I know two things:

1) There is ALWAYS more to every story, than what is reported in the media.

2) For more a long time, everyone that can be considered an "insider" into MU hoops (Dodds, IWB, Mark Miller, BMA) have been saying that there was more to Saunders' situation than the lack of open schollys, or his "extracurriculars"...While they havent divulged the real reasons, I will take their emphatic word for it.
