Early signing period
« on: November 10, 2009, 04:02:13 PM »
I was just listening to the podcast of The Marquette Basketball Hour with Buzz Williams and he would not commit to how many players would sign Wednesday.  Homer kept saying 2 and Buzz kept saying ... maybe 3,4 or 5.  I think Buzz has something up his sleeve and will sign 3 players Black, Blue, and Jones.  What does everyone think?

I'd like to get "Black and Blue"....... and Jones.   ::)
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

As I indicated earlier, expect 2  and 2 in the spring.  All the talk on this board and others is that Black is going to wait until the spring to sign.

I think we get the two expected on Wednesday and one more by the 18th.  And if I was pressed into it I would say the third is not T-Black.  But I do think we are the leaders to signing him in the spring.

Coming from someone with absolutely no inside information, it seems like Buzz enjoys pulling a rabbit out of his hat.  Maybe to those with inside information it's not such a surprise, but I'm guessing 3 when it's all said and done.

I posted basically the same thought in the other "signing" thread.  When I heard Buzz on the radio last night, it just seemed like he suggested more than 2 signings too many times.  At first I thought he was joking, but then I thought he was trying to say something without saying anything.

Remember, tomorrow kicks off Signing WEEK...it is not just limited to Signing DAY.

A kid could be visiting a school this coming weekend, and then sign at any time up until Wednesday the 18th, at midnight.

We never know from what Buzz said - 3, 4 5 - maybe his way of saying stop asking- you know we have two who are signing now, so I'll make it ridiculous and say 3, 4, 5 to point out that you should stop.

Or. . . he has a verbal - but why would he not announce that?  The only way we get a 3rd is if he feels very good about someone but hasn't received the call yet.

Can't wait until this week plays out!

I would say he wouldn't announce that because it is against NCAA rules for coach to talk about a prospective recruit. There's a reason Buzz hasn't publicly said who he is signing.

I meant if someone else verballed/committed to MU, like Vander did, then it would be announced. We'll see what happens soon enough!

The question isn't why Buzz wouldn't announce it...he can't.

The question is why the kids wouldn't announce it.  Do you really think that these guys can keep some sort of secret verbal commitment under wraps?  And for what purpose?

So who are some of the guys Marquette is recruiting for '10 and '11.

I heard Clark had some issues and won't play at Marquette....Jones from Jacksonville and Vander Blue are commits, have they signed?

Somebody mentioned "Black"...I assume he meant Tariq Black out of Memphis? How is he a Center a 6'7? Like a DeJuan Blair type player?

Thanks... Took me a while to find a marquette site worth something....Rivals site is pathetic

Clark has issues? Really? Too bad because we really could use a player who knows how to take it to the hole.
