I know most people don't care about soccer, but congrats to the #18 women's team winning the American Division of the Big East Conference.

Notre Dame won the National Division.  Here's to destroying them in the Big-East Tournament!

Congrats to the ladies!  I definitely don't watch/follow soccer at MU as much as I feel like I should, but I'm always rooting for them.

hey at least someone is making some news in the soccer department, b/c we all know the men's team isn't doing that.

Blackhat

men's soccer definitely hasn't turned the corner as I was hoping.   I think Bennett has one more year on his contract.   Do or die time probably.

GGGG

How much financial support do the non-basketball programs really get from the University?  I get the impression that we are basically an Atlantic 10 athletic program that competes in the Big East only because of men's basketball.  I mean, it is nice that we have these occasional successes, but they seem few and far between.

Blackhat

They put more money toward men's soccer, Bennett was making 60k at UWM, MU offered him 90k per.   Haven't gotten the results on their "investment".   Can't say anymore as far as MU's ambitions for other sports and their monetary spending because I don't know but Cottingham seems like he wants to take MU's second tier sports to the next level.

groove

The women's volleyball team just had a top 10 recruiting class and is about in the middle of the pack in the Big East this season with a very young team.

The women's soccer team has been very competitive the last couple of seasons they've made the elite 8 once or twice in the last 5 years

DEFINITLY.

The title fo this thread needs to read MU Women's Soccer Wins Big East Division Title. For a second there I thought the mens team did a BIG 180.

Congrats ladies.

For those who are interested, the women's team beat WVU in the BE semi-finals 1-0 and will be playing Notre Dame for the BE title on Sunday.  The game is televised on CBS College Sports at 12pm EST.

Unfortunately our ladies came up just short against ND.  From the sounds of things they played a good close game.  On to the NCAA.
