Ok wadesworld question my baseball knowledge.

Of the Cubs, Dodgers, Phillies, and Brewers I think the Brewers didn't stand a chance. They had a young team and Sheets disappears in big games.

I wish the Cubs could have matched up with the Brewers last season.

Haha I definitely am.

What big games has Sheets pitched in to disappear?  He was hurt down the stretch last year and was in Milwaukee his whole career, meaning that the only big games he would have played in were down the stretch last year, when he did not pitch.

Sheets was a pal of Tom Crean's, therefore he is worthless and weak.

Nice, I was waiting for someone to make a comment like that.

Also, you need to lump Maddux in there too.

"Letting Kerry Wood go, and singing Gregg did nothing to improve the position"... Really?  Comments like this show you don't follow baseball very closely.  Gregg has been dominant the last 2.5 months with an era around 1.75.  Wood has been a complete bust this year.

Hopefully you have better judgement in other aspects of your life.

Just because Gregg is awful doesn't change the fact that Wood is also still bad.

I'd say the Brewers lost more than the Cubs did by trading for CC.  You lost both Matt LaPorta and CC Sabaitha while we still have Harden.

Sure you won the Wild Card but was that worth losing your future stud?

LaPorta hasn't shown stud-level play yet, but yes.  After 27 years, the trade was worth it.  I still think short-starting CC in the playoffs was the wrong decision, and if they just set up their rotation right, they could have had a better showing.  But last year was very, very fun.

This thread has to be right up there with that of the Great Circus Parade.

I don't care what you say, I still hate that parade.   ;)

I like Harden but wish the Cubs would have traded him for some prospects.  I don't think the Cubs will re-sign him in the offseason and I'd rather get some high level prospects than compensation draft picks.

Do you think the Cubs offer him arbitration, and if so, does he take it?  Not sure there will be much of a market for his services right now, but if he has a year like last year he could probably make himself a lot more money in the long run.  This is pretty similar to the Sheets situation last year.

The only way the Cubs will take Harden is for $4 million or less.  I think Harden is gone as he can make $9 - $10 a year in free agency.

While I agree that there are a lot of dumb teams and GMs out there, I can't imagine anybody giving Harden that kind of money.

He just can't stay healthy.

You pretty much have to have a 6 man starting staff knowing that Harden is probably only good for about 140 innings per year.

I don't think it will be a long term contract but I seriously believe a team would be willing to pay $9-$10 a year.
