LSU was mentioned in Jeff Goodman's latest column on FoxSports as a squad that's likely headed to the NIT.  Sure, there's a long way to go this season but it might happen -- meanwhile, MU is steamrolling its way to the NCAAs yet again .......... and Dameon Mason is having the worst season of his collegiate career (and is struggling mightily in conference play)

I'm rooting for him to have a nice career at LSU and beyond (hopefully), but at this point its clear that his separation from MU helped the Golden Eagles more than his NBA chances.

Warrior1969

I am not thinking he will be playing much after LSU.

MUMac

Apparently he will not be playing much at LSU either.

The grass is not always greener on the other side of te fence.  Sad to see.

I don't know why anyone would root for this guy.He was self centered and not as skilled as he thought. Somebody sold him a bag of goods as to his talent level. This being said I am not entirely anti transfer and I respect the decision of Karon Bradley and thank him for his contributions.
One final thought is that the transfer of Odartey Blankson was detrimental to both Odartey and Marquette. We really could have used another rebounder against Kansas. What might have been?

77ncaachamps

I will always think about what could have been with Odartey.

I understand why he signed with LSU (Tyrus Thomas, Big Baby, et. al.), but I think Dameon should have signed elsewhere.

I forgot what the other prospective schools were...

In honesty, all of us knew Mason's game had serious fundamental flaws.  I have no idea if he was resistant to coaching or practise, but his game has steadily regressed against better competition.

Hope he has a chance to turn his game around.
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

Hey guys, remember, this isn't pro ball and these guys aren't free agents.

When they decide to transfer its not all about basketball or getting to the next level. I know that is the obvious thing that we all assume, but let's also assume that these kids are students (because they are).

Mason may not be getting the PT, or be playing as well. But, he may love going to LSU, he may be doing well in classes, and he may graduate with a good degree that he can use in life. He may be very glad he transfered, regardless of what happens on the court.

This is COLLEGE hoops, it's not all about PT and getting to the NBA. Transferring is a personal decision, and unless there is a direct quote somewhere from Dameon saying he transferred so he would have a shot at the NBA, I don't think we should assume that.

augoman

great point, '02alum'.  I often forget and assume a maturity level for these young men that doesn't exist.  (I know some from the '70's that are challenged in this regard).  The problem is that someone gets their ear and can, thinking they are giving sage advice, (see odarty blankson) do considerable harm.

Nukem2

LSU is struglling and Hoopmasters reports that Tack Minor has left school to transfer.  And, this is a team with a short roster that just got shorter.

WashDCWarrior

I'd like to see Mason get some more PT and do well.  I still have fond memories of him as a freshman hitting that pull up jumper, getting fouled, and making the FT to beat Louisville.

Nukem2

It would be nice to see D-Mas do better.  He may be gone, but he is still part of MU lore (as per the Lousville game).

Murffieus

Mason picked the wrong school------he needs direction----needs to play in a system-----LSU too free lanced for him. Would have been an excellent fit at UW !
