Actually they are both former MU recruits.  We were on Johnson before he committed, and we were mentioned with Momo either before he committed to USC or before he committed to Virginia Tech.  With that kid, he's committed and decommitted so many times it starts to blend together.

I think when the dust settles USC may be sitting in worse shape than IU was last season.  What a shame.....

And I hear that the football team is getting looked at also....?? ?-(

Not really up to date on the recruiting rules or trail,...

but ESPN has Derrick listing MU as one of his top choices, which I am assuming its old.
But if the rumor is true about a player leaving, is there any chance MU could be going after him?
He's a top 75 player, so I wouldn't mind signing him if we could, even if that did mean we would lose Blue.

How do we lose something we do not have?

I meant to stay lose the chance at getting Blue. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't you say we are in the top 3 for him?

I was just trying to get a feel if people would take a signing of Williams over the shot of Blue next year?

Marquette_g

I don't think I can intelligently comment on who is better as all I would go off of is ratings provided by recruiting services.  I know some people love the idea that Blue is from WI, but that does nothing for me (despite living my whole life here).

Spiting Bucky is fine but I'd rather have the better player than win a recruiting battle just for the sake of winning it.

Not at the moment but things could change.

Either way, the two situations are independent of each other.  Derrick Williams plays the same positions as Maymon, Erik Williams, Fulce, Butler and Hayward.

He wouldn't be competing with Blue for anything, he'd have to worry about beating out the guys that are already here.

No he's not.  He makes the Top 75 in only two services.  4 other services don't rank him in the top 100 at all.

I meant scholarship wise. If we add another recruit, wouldn't we not have one more for next year?

Sorry, I went by espn that had him at 72.

Blue and Williams are in different years, and the scholarship situations don't effect each other.

In order for Derrick Williams to come to MU, a player currently on the roster or one of the other 2009 recruits has to go.  Blue is a 2010 recruit and is not effected by that.

I was always a little confused on available scholarships.

Right now we don't have any available. If the rumor was one of our seniors were leaving, wouldn't it make one available for next year. But since if it was a senior who was leaving, it wouldn't open up a spot next year, right?

So would Williams be essentially taking the free spot from next year's class?

dwaderoy2004

i see where you're coming from.  if williams were to replace a senior, no schollie opens up next year, thus we "lose" a scholarship for next year.  if williams replaces an incoming recruit, it changes nothing.
