I was talking to a buddy tonight and we wondered:

Who was the last MU player to NOT go on to play basketball somewhere, NBA, Europe, Brazil, wherever.

I took a guess and said Brian Barone.

New Era Warriors

Trend Blackledge? He was on campus this past year pursuing his degree and I doubt he will be playing anywhere next year because he sucks. Terry Sanders isn't playing anywhere either right now. Niv Berkowitz?! haha

Sir Lawrence

I assume you aren't including walk ons?

Todd Townsend perhaps?

I believe Niv is still playing pro ball in Israel.
Ludum habemus.

bma725

Townsend played, albeit very briefly for Norpking in the Swedish Professional league.

Blackledge hasn't played anywhere. David Diggs had the opportunity to play overseas, but as I recall didn't go so that he could get his Master degree.  Same with Barone.

bma725

I take it back.  Apparently Blackledge played last summer in the EuroBasket summer league in Salt Lake City, which was basically a big tryout for European teams.

I can't seem to find anything on Jamil Lott playing anywhere, even sites that are usually good for foreign ball don't have anything.

dunno if this counts, but...tommy brice?

I love Trend. Always good for a Murphy's sighting or a Sportscenter Top 10 play. Take your pick.

bilsu

Trend would of fared better in Buzz's style than he did in Crean's. He liked to stay on the outside and come flying in, which would have worked better in Buzz's offense. He was not a great player, but he was lots of fun to watch.

(I should have added .. no walk-ons.)

(And I'm pretty sure Sanders played somewhere before he opened his Smoothie shop.)

.. It's not about whether they are playing NOW .. the question is basically .. what do MU BBall players do after they leave Marquette?   Answer: Almost every single one of them go on to play Bball for money.

I assume that's the case for most players in top ~50-100 programs, eh?

Mike Wilkinson went to go farm after his stint as a Badger great

Yep, Diggs stayed to get his Masters in Computer Engineering.  I ran into him at a game last season and he's doing well.

I would have loved to have Wilkinson in a Warrior uniform.

Don't knock him...Wilkinson would have been a real nice player for Marquette.

BrewCity83

Wilkinson doesn't need a ladder to reach the hay bales high up in the barn loft.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

butchbadger

After enjoying going to the Elite 8 Wilkinson made a lot of $$ playing ball in Greece and made the All Star team both years

Nice  to thumb your nose at farming  ::)

Yeah, he's also a traitor

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Wilkinson

Man is a Macedonian citizen, and plays for their national team.

Plays an 11 seed, 14 seed and 10 seed to get to the elite... well done.  Figured he was a farmer because thats all they could talk about during that elite eight game against UNC

Do you really consider Wilkinson a Badger great butchbadger?  Was he a good solid player, yes.  Would I have enjoyed him if he was a MU player, of course, but a great?  I usually hold those who got at least a look from a team in the United States

Berkowitz played this past season on an Israeli team led by former DePaul star Draelon Burns.
