If so, someone should tell him to stop. Seriously.

sorry but i beg to differ.  I don't think you are in his target marquette of 15-17 year old males.  twitter is the fastest growing website out there.  We'll see a whole lot more coaches doing this in the near future than we will see less.  It's a leagle way of sending a ton of illeagle text messages, it would have kept his predessor out of trouble.

I agree completely.

A lot of people will assume it's a way for Tom to stroke his own ego (and some of it certainly is).

However, take TC out of the equation and look at it just as a tool for recruiting that the NCAA hasn't figured out how to regulate.

Obviously a coach cannot/will not make specific comments about specific players, but he can talk about tournaments he's going to, games he sees, former players, current players, etc. etc.

It's not the holy grail of recruiting, but smart coaches are always looking for the next evolution in how to communicate teens.

With all of this said, it's simply a "tool", so it will take an innovative coach to really make it work well for his needs. Blasting Paul Davis on Twitter probably isn't a great recruiting tool, so TC will have to come with better content than that.

Well, you are right, I am not a 15-17 year old male.  But I do have a twitter account, and I tweet frequently-- so no arguement with the medium.

Just my opinion: I thought the TC tweets were hilarious as a parody, but a bit pathetic otherwise. Plus the poor grammar (not the twitter/text slang to keep character count low) bugged me.

Your observation that they are a recruiting tool makes sense, but also makes a lot of the content seem even more self-absorbed, plus irrelevant.  There are a lot of corporate entities using twitter effectively.  TC hasn't cracked that code yet.

Maybe they are the stuff a 15-17 year old bball phenom loves.  As you note, since I am not his target, I wouldn't know.  Feel free to hit the ignore old ladies button.  I don't want to start a p*ssing match.  Or would it be a twitting match?

Also, reinko actually redirected my thinking on this: the "fact" that they are real may actually make them funnier, in a weird way.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

I think TC is definitely shrewd/smart enough to realize that Twitter is a great way to promote the program, promote himself, and talk with recruits (in a very broad manner).

What he hasn't figured out yet, is how to make it effective. I just read all of his Tweets again, and 50% of them are probably interesting for people who drink the IU kool-aid, the other 50% are just inane chatter, which can work for some comedians or actors, but probably not a person in a leadership position like TC.

Can we make, like, a parody twitter site for Tom Crean?

I mean, we can say twitter stuff like...

"I can't wait 4 bed. I have my red/white jammies ready2go!"

or

"Watching the Hoosiers practice makes me stiff."

Some stupid stuff like that? Any thoughts?!? ;)

Maybe ... but I don't know if it would differ that much from the content already there ...

Awesome.   I take it you're the only one that can post though.  Too bad it's not communal posting.  You should do a "Time to Tan" post every 20 minutes.

EAT, you are my hero.  Can you put some wallpaper behind it?  Some half-assed accomplishment banners should do it.

I would love to put a 1-17 big ten banner up, if someone with graphics skills can do it.

Lets lay it all on out there.....

To be totally honest after watching his coaching show in 2007 I thought he was losing it.  Seeing twitter and his huge ambition to be the star I think he may be going loonie.   Hopefully for the IU faithful which Chico is apart of, I'm wrong.
