Hopefully you made it to the game today.   Probably tough to watch for lots of it, but if you stayed to the end you had to leave with a smile on your face!

Let's hope Tampa was there and was taping with the cell. Or perhaps Tampa could tape the 11 o'clock sports tonight and upload somewhere for us folks in the frigidity of WI.
GO WARRIORS!

Yep, I was there. It was a tough game, but I expected that going in (though I thought it would be Gransberry rather than Mattis that would have the big game against us). I didn't want it to be quite that tough, though! The shooting at the start of the game recalled some of our misadventures from early in the conference season. We were getting good shots, but nothing was falling...must have missed 5 layups in the first five minutes.

Funny thing is, though, I just never thought we were going to lose this game. When USF called the timeout with 9 seconds left, I told my wife that was a mistake...we were going to get a steal and win the damn thing. And there went Jerel!

Unfortunately, after that happened, in the process of going nuts, my wedding ring flew off my hand, through the air, and down to the walkway below us (we were on the first row of the second level)...fortunately  I was able to scramble madly down the three flights of stairs to the level below and grab it, avoiding the doghouse. Karma is a funny thing.

Definitely left with a smile, and had a few beers after the game at a local watering hole with some fellow Warriors.  All in all, turned out to be a good afternoon. Disaster averted. Any win is a good win. Now, time for payback against the Friars.

Final Four or Bust

Strong MU crowd in attendence -- almost two whole sections to the rafters, although when the game was in key points the building got pretty loud for the sparse USF crowd there.  If they could fill that place it would be just a pit.

The beginning was just painful, lots of easy shots and the basket just had a lid on it.  Luckily they didn't have much more luck.  Gransberry was an absolute monster, we had a ton of shots altered blocked and we couldn't stop him inside - but we hit a pretty good number of threes to keep us in (Cubillian's two threes before have were huge, and Fitz's late in the game was critical).

Any reports on Haywood -- he played decent early on, but then I don't think he renetered?

At the end this team pulled out a gritty win - a real steal in a potential "trap" game.  Good teams win close games, and they've had that knack this year.

Thanks for the reports - whew on the ring!

Been wondering about Hayward myself.  He starts, but just 13 minutes PT?

As for wedding rings, same thing happened to me at the Bradley Center last year.  As Hilltopper can attest, I get a little animated with the applause, and this particular game, off went the ring.  It turned up two rows down after a five minute search, but I got very specific instructions from Mrs Oldgym to "put that damn thing in your pocket!"

She doesn't say that often.

Having attended some USF games in the past when they were competitive, I can vouch for the Sun Dome being a pit w/ a bigger crowd. The place can get very loud (and since they replaced the fabric roof w/ the aluminum one, I would imagine even louder than previously). It's a good place to watch a game, reminds me a little of the old Arena/Mecca. Sad to see the attendance these days, but this just isn't a hoops area in general.

That makes 3 people .. I've told this story before, but one of my co-workers was at a Bucks game with courtside seats .. he also lost his wedding ring, and who helped him, on hands and knees, look for it, for a good 5 minutes?  Tom Crean.

I lost my wedding ring too, but I didn't find, it's still somewhere in the Atlantic.  Note to soon to be newylweds:  If you go bodyboarding on your honeymoon, make sure to take your ring off.  Wifey wasn't too happy that I lost it in a wave the second day of our trip.
