I'm just about done with a book titled The Mystery of Banking, by Murray Rothbard. Since the stock market collapse of last fall I've been trying to understand finance and banking better. If any of you have had Dr. Charlie Breeden of the Econ Department, Breeden's favorite economist is Rothbard.

In one of the last chapters of the book, Rothbard talks about one Benjamin Strong, who was the first Governor of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Here's his wikipedia page.

Obviously, the last name "Strong" and the connection to banking and investment (he had strong connections to the Morgans) made me think of Marquette's BOT member Dick Strong. Out of sheer curiousity, does anyone know if the latter has any family connection to the former?

I beleieve "dick strong" is a native american indian name.

I don't know about the NY connection.

This article mentions Strong as a North Dakota native.

So as tongue-in-cheek as it is to say it's a Native American name, that may be not be far from the truth.

He isn't on the BOT.
