but, I can't recall another school that has changed its nickname and the new name has been so slow to catch on. Nobody mixes up St. Johns or Stanford's name. MU really miscalculated not only the popularity of Warriors, but also its marketablity.
Still its not too late for a change back.

are you sure? do you know for a fact that there aren't alumni from either of those schools who call themselves 4ever____ who are still upset about the change and post on message boards every time an announcer/news person/public figure messes up?  I would have no idea if a Stanford version of you exists.  If he does, would he know about you?  would you be friends?
