If Liam had the flu, he would have been lightheaded and likely not allowed on a team plane to Boise for fear of infecting his teammates. Let's not jump of a bridge on this one and leap to cardiomyopathy, marfans is diganosable by sight, he doesn't have it, or any other of a number of bad conditions to have.

No offense to Chicos, but a friend of an anonymous poster on a message board does not make Woodward and Bernstein's Deepthroat source. If there's something career threatening here, I'll wait to hear it from Scott Kuykendal, Liam, or Buzz before I believe it.

I agree, that's why I asked and tried to make sure everyone knew this was very much not a rock solid statement.  Having said that, I believe on the other board it is now reported as well from some folks close to the program.

Hayward, your attacks are unwarranted in this thread.  This is serious stuff.

I took Buzz saying, "It does not look good," to pretty much rule out the flu. I hope I'm wrong.

No offense, but Buzz has said as much in terms of it potentially being basketball threatening. And if it's the flu, there's no way that after doctors are consulted, they need to do more tests. I'm trying to be optimistic, but HCM is a real possibility. Hopefully, hopefully, seriously, hopefully it's something benign, but at this point all signs don't really point that way. I'll be crossing my fingers, knocking on wood, and praying and stuff.

I think everyone is just wondering and speculating on what Liam's problem could be since the information that we are getting is so limited, and hoping and praying for the best.  But the signals coming from Buzz and the fact that they are still doing testing almost two weeks after the original signs of a problem, coupled with indications that Buzz is still trying to recruit a big man for 2009 without a scholarship seemingly available, doesn't make me very comfortable.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

Just to be clear when I said, "it could be the flu" I was just coming up with one alternative to career-threatening that could keep him off of that plane. I wasn't necessarily diagnosing the flu. I will however go ahead and say with almost total certainty that it is not Marfan's Syndrome.

Also, when Buzz used the pronoun "it" in "it doesn't look good" he could have meant it-Liam's career is threatened, or it-Liam's chances of getting on that plane are slim.

It's true that the thought of recruiting a big man could be because of Liam, but it seems like Liam's thing is pretty recent while we have been recruiting big man for a period of time. Unless it was a concern that just got worse right before Boise, I don't think the two situations are related. However, hopefully this is just a scare and it turns out to not be anything serious. From the sounds of it he has looked good in practice. It'd be nice havin an athletic guy over 7 feet.

GGGG

My guess is that if it were simply the flu, something would have come out by now that would have said "it was just the flu."  The fact that this is still out there a week later, and it has yet to be addressed in substantive terms, leads me to believe that it is something more substantial than that.

We generally hear about more common illnesses pretty quickly.

He wasn't in class today.

I have a lecture with him at one and he was definitely there.

BrewCity83

Maybe one of you guys could ask him how he's doing.

Isn't rumor and speculation more fun than going to the source?

Dr. House is phenomenal.   Last year the trainers originally thought Mbakwe was dying of a rare skin disease but House diagnosed it correctly as a vaginal yeast infection, making it possible for Trevor to come back and have that breakout game against Pitt.
