I left the room in disgust at 49-43 Utah.  Marquette started to come back so I stayed out of the room.  I thought they were safe and walked back in just as the guy banked in a 3.  I sacrificed and left the room again.  MU WINS.  I did it again.  This reminds me of how I won the national championship by....... ;D

Forget what other say:  I did it.

BaltimoreMC

Thanks for all your efforts.  Could you go run some errands all day on Sunday....that would be great.

MU_Warrior44

Thanks! I hope you stay out of the room for the entire next game :)

Lennys Tap

70,

That's not the first time you've put the Warriors on your back and dragged them across the finish line. I remember a game against South Carolina in the early 70s....... I expect you to be at the top of your game Sunday afternoon.

I helped, too.  I was wearing all the MU stuff I wore all year to the BC games I attended, but changed my socks because my feet were cold - MU lost the lead, so I changed back.  It takes an entire community of fans to win these games, and we all do what we can......

Pakuni

Apologies ... I think I almost lost it for us.
I was watching at a Buffalo Wild Wings, holding off on my order, fearing that if  a good Catholic boy like myself ordered anything other than the popcorn shrimp (yuck), the Good Lord might come down hard on me and my Jesuit school bretheren.
By the time MU built a double-digit first half lead, I figured we were in the clear and ordered up a batch of wings. They arrived at halftime. You all saw what happened after halftime.

Fortunately, God saw fit to spare MU his complete wrath. If MU plays next Friday, I promise not to let it happen again.

(cough) So wrong.  My birthday wish pushed us over the top.

I would like to claim credit for the escape thanks to the magical power of my very rare Odartey Blankson jersey, which I wore today for the first time this season.

But seriously...Who BANKS a three?!?!?!?!?!?!

Everyone tries to get credit with some hackneyed superstition,  like socks or underwear.  LennysTap called me and tried to claim credit with some cheap trick about leaving the house, driving around and listening to the game.  But that not sacrifice for victory (it isn't even environmentally friendly)---leaving the room, now that's sacrifice.  ;)

Well, really , I think we have all made our sacrifices.  In reality, it is the confluence of ALL of our efforts that make the difference.  One sacrifice here or there would'nt do it.  But the totality of what Marquette fans do, well, that's the trick.

PS - eating those Buffalo wings at half time on a Friday during lent was very risky and should never be repeated.  What were you thinking?!!

BrewCity83

Pakuni, you should have run to the restroom and ralphed up the wings as soon as the trouble started, bulimia style.

Figured the same thing. Hadn't eaten lunch and was looking at the bar menu at halftime. Realizing it was Friday and everything I would have ordered was meat, I decided it was better to starve. I've never been a big practicing no-meat-on-Fridays Catholic, but I mean...why poke the big man in the eye?

I've remained optimistic through most close games, but this time I took the opposite tactic, and it may have worked out for Marquette.  When they were down 6, others in the group I was with said they'd still win.  I replied "No they won't.  I've seen this story too many times in the last few weeks."  Apparently, I was wrong.
