I might be one of the few here that like Bruce Pearl.   That was an ok wrap up but here's hoping he's right!

Something about the cheating and the influencing of players to transfer to his school wouldn't have sit well with me.  If people here had issues wtih Crean, my God what would they say about Pearl who tampered with players at at least two other schools while at UWM, had one kid die after leaving his house in which alcohol was served, is running around chicks that are the same age as his players (not that I don't vicariously applaud him).....sorry, that doesn't fit the MU hire.  We had someone like that in the last 20 years, don't need another one.

Right on Hay. Bruce has fixed every trainwreck program he's been a part of, even in places where it was said it couldn't be done. He builds a winning program because the athletes love his style of ball as do the fans. Just ask the 20K fans per game that are fortunate to get tickets in Knoxville.
There may have been a time when Bruce would have entertained thoughts of coaching the Warriors. But, as others on this board are fond of saying, "that ship has sailed."

Am I reading this correctly? Some of the most ardent Crean bashers would have preferred Bruce Pearl the past nine years? Isn't Pearl a self-promoter just like Crean? Heck, he may be on TV and radio more than Crean is. And he does seem to like the younger women.

Yes, cheating.  Sorry you don't know about it, but plenty in the biz did.  One of many reasons MU didn't play UWM when he was there.  I'll leave it at that.  Cheating, tampering, etc.  You cannot do what he did by recruiting all ready committed players on scholarship and PLAYING at other schools to get them to transfer.  That is tampering.  Plain and simple.  On this, even many UW-Madison fans agree.  He is slimy beyond belief and there is a reason why he's in the SEC right now.  I'll leave it at that, but he is a slimy coach and an even slimier person.

You're right though, Joey, we would certainly be better off at a Catholic school to have someone of Bruce's pedigree there.

That is correct, people who spent months bitching about crean donating to the soccer field and then having a press conference as a method to increase donations, do not have a problem with a guy who goes to women's games in orange body paint.  He's even fairly tan.  I don't think i can name a coach more similar to crean.

He's also been a slimebag both professionally and personally his entire career.  Pearl cheated at UWM and was lucky to get away with it.  He got players like Joah Tucker by breaking the rules, plain and simple.

It's got nothing to do with where he coached.  He's used the same slimey tactics as an assistant at Iowa, and at all his head coaching stops.

The whole recruiting business has a slimey side to it including the top 5 schools .Some coaches get away with more than others .Was Al perfect ? I doubt it ,and the rules were not as tight back then.
