Did you see the part about Tucker only having 2 fouls in league play? This must make Ryan the best crybaby coach in the country.

spiral97

that IS amazing..

he only has 16 fouls for the entire season so far (20 games for them).. you think that's low?  taylor only has 10 fouls in the same 20 games and has played 7 minutes more cumulatively!  (taylor has 4 big ten fouls to match up with tucker's 2).

the team as a whole is averaging 15.5 fouls per game..

for reference, MU is averaging 19.95 fouls per game over the 21 game season we've played so far.. we've also had 9 foul outs (the girls next door have had a cumulative grand spanking total of 0).

was further interested so checked and came up with this breakdown of our players who have played a minimum of 100 minutes (kuphall (15), Kinsella (23), and Brice (5) do not qualify) sorted by average number of minutes between fouls:

PlayerGamesMinutesFoulsMinutes/Foul
Burke21195326.1
Lott19237347.0
Fitzgerald21419577.4
Hayward21304378.2
McNeal20592728.2
Barro215715011.4
Matthews216634714.1
Blackledge17117814.6
Cubillan214252715.7
James216844315.9

if you're interested.. the same table for the girls next door (Gullikson (92), Bronson (26), Perry (23), and Cain (16) do not meet the 100 minute minimum threshold):

PlayerGamesMinutesFoulsMinutes/Foul
Stiemsma19186316.0
Chappell20318447.2
Landry20325417.9
Hughes17144159.6
Butch203873411.4
Flowers205754712.2
Bohannon172482012.4
Krabbenhoft204163113.4
Tucker206311639.4
Taylor206381063.8

Let me restate... the two players on that team that blow everyone else on that team out of the water in terms of minutes played (by over 50 minutes more than the next closest player) are fouling at a rate of between a 3 and 4 times less than the next more frequent foulers on that team.. huh?!?!  39.4 minutes per foul and 63.8 minutes per foul.. heck, that's more than a whole game worth of minutes for Tucker and TWO games worth of minutes for Taylor.. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!

However everytime I tell my Badger friends that they will win at home because of fouls... they laugh it off like its not a big deal and think I just whine about it.  These numbers are great

Man I love good stats.  Thanks Spiral.

OT: I sure seems like Fitz gets whistled about once a minute.
