Dwyane Wade passed Alonzo Morning as the Heats all-time leading scorer today on a dunk against the Jazz.

In Wednesday's incredible performance to beat the Celtics, he passed Celtics coach Doc Rivers to become the 3rd leading NBA scorer among MU grads.  He is taking a rest with a slight lead over the over the Jazz in the 4th quarter.  He has 29 points through 3 quarters to make the all-time NBA scoring list as follows:

1. Maurice Lucas 12,312
2. Don Kojis 9,931
3. Dwyane Wade 9,468 (through 3rd quarter today)
4. Doc Rivers 9,418
5. George Thompson 8,128
6. Jim Chones 7,663
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

Were Lucas' points just from his NBA career (i.e. excluding the ABA)? And he did that in 12 years? At his current track, Wade will probably just need another 2 years (1500/yr?) to become the leading scorer.

Include Lucas's ABA points and he has 14,857. I would think that is a more valid number since it's inclusive of professional basketball leagues. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/lucasma01.html

Also, Kojis is listed at 9,948. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/k/kojisdo01.html
