Don't look now but it looks like our Strength of Schedule is #19 as of today according to the Ken Pomeroy....it's a shame we didn't play a tougher home OOC schedule... ;D

But...but...how can that be?!?!?!  We play such a terrible non-conference schedule that we surely must be in the 300s for strength of schedule, right?  I cannot wait for next year's schedule to come out so we can watch the perennial whiners complain about the schedule despite being shown how lame their arguments are over and over again.

One of the oft-repeated falacies is that our non-conference SOS won't improve as the season wears on.

Recall that just before we started conference play, or non-conference SOS was ranked 174th.   Because of the strong conference play of our non-conference opponents, that 174 is now 111.   Not only are *WE* playing tougher teams--the Oaklands and Idaho States and Delaware states are looking better as they run away with their conferences.

Crean and Cords have traditionally done a good job of finding those teams that are going to struggle in November, but win their conferences with great records at the end of the year.  So there's a good chance that Idaho State, Delaware State and Oakland all wind up in the NCAA tourney with top 100 RPI ranks.

The sad thing is that next season, someone will look at a team on our schedule and compare them unfavorably to Delaware State or Idaho State--complaning that our schedule is the weakest ever becase we don't even have strong buy teams like Idaho State or Delaware State.

Just looked at Ken Pomeroy's RPI site - interesting thing that jumped out at me.

Of the 4 CBE tournament finalists, Marquette is the lowest rated at #26.  Texas Tech is #25, Air Force is #8, and Duke is #7.  That's a hell of a lineup!

Yet we win, and we're the bottom of the barrel.  Numbers aren't fair I tell you! :)
