What could have been -

7. 3/12/09 - With MU having lost its previous 4 after Dominic James was lost for the season with a broken foot, MU wins it 2nd in a row in the BET in thrilling fashion by coming back from 16 down at half against a very good Villanova team.

Just as easy of a list for me to formulate, but I'm taking it back one more year to 2001 when I was a freshman at MU:

1)  Kentucky, 2003.  Hands down.
2)  Pitt, 2003.  Survived a furious Pitt rally down the stretch.  Wade and Merritt come up big in crunch time.
3)  UConn, 2006.  Not just surprising in the result, but the manner of the beatdown.
4)  Cincy, 2002.  The game that put MU back on the map.  Plus we rushed the floor too.
5)  Cincy, 2003.  Conference USA champions.
6)  @ Louisville, 2003.  19 down on the road with 1st place in CUSA on the line.
7)  Pitt, 2006.  Another furious Pitt rally down the stretch.  Aaron Gray chokes on 2 free throws and MU escapes with the win and a tourney bid.
8)  @ Wisconsin, 2007.  First MU win in Madison in a decade.  Hack-a-Burke backfires on Bo. James delivers an emphatic F-U to the Badger fans with his stuff of Hughes as time expires.
9)  Missouri, 2003.  Perfection in OT from Novak. And Gus Johnson on the call.
10) Duke, 2006.  DJ puts on a show for the nation from KC.

They let you rush the court? I doubt they'd let us get away with that now. That's hard to say, though, since we usually end up losing those kinds of games at the BC.

Oh yeah.  Got to do it in 2002, 2003 (when we beat Cincy for the CUSA title), and 2004 (when Dameon Mason hit a jumper at the buzzer to beat Louisville on Senior Day).  BC security for the first two actually anticipated it and helped out by clearing out the courtside seats and channeling the students thru a certain part of the floor.

Now?  $25,000 fine from the Big East.  And I don't think the BC security wants to deal with the liability issues either.

From my era:
Jan 81 - Doc Rivers hits a running shot from the time line to beat #3 Notre Who at the MECCA to crush Digger. Don't think I have ever screamed louder in my life.

"rushing" the floor in 2004 is quite the overstatement...more like Section 106 forcing our way onto the student section corner of the court before the BC security got violent and started pushing students over chairs to prevent them from getting any further onto the court.

It doesn't get any better than to have been at the Omni in Atlanta on that March Monday night in 1977 when your team is the last one standing. Eat your hearts out because I have a snip of the net from that evening.

Any time we've beaten ND or UW.

I would take BE tourney wins or NCAA wins any day than beating those two teams. you get respect by winning in the tourneys. MU, for all its traditionl, has 1 conference championship.

True. But in the glory days, when MU was a top #10 program and a national title contender every year, we were an independent. Didn't join a conference until the program had dropped to a much lower level.
