Oregon.

Not exactly a shocker.

So after all this he goes 2000 miles away to play at midnight (Racine time) for the worst team in the PAC 10.

I'm struggling to see how this is a good decision for him.

There's really only two reasons to go to Oregon anymore:

1)  If you want to play undisciplined basketball
2)  If you want really good shoe hook-ups from Phil Knight

However, seeing how the "Fire Buzz" bandwagon was rolled out after the game yesterday, I'm fully expecting the trolls to come out soon and be like "why couldn't Buzz/Marquette get Jamil Wilson since he's from Racine?"
The General has taken on a new command.

nyg

Glad he is staying close to his family.  Oregon, 2-16 in conference play, with a coach on the hotseat.  Would have been a great pickup, but good luck.

Brand new arena coming, new coach, beautiful co-eds....he'll be fine.  Maybe getting away from home is exactly what he needs for a year.  Who knows, you may see him transfer back, too.

Bash away on me guys. My apologies on being the beat the Wilson drum on here. I had very good source that was positive on us getting him. I know a lot of you are happy but to me this wraps a bad, bad ten days for the program.
Who knows, maybe Oregon coach is canned next week and Wilson changes his mind. I still believe this kid would have been a great catch for the program.

Let's not overreact.  There's a few guys who may advocate Buzz's departure.  Is that a bandwagon?

I just hate it when 1-2-3-4 people post something controversial, and suddenly people think that's a mainstream idea.   It's not.   That kind of stuff represents about 1% of Warrior nation .. the internet just makes it seem bigger.

No kidding.  You have to be nuts to want a guy's head after his first year.  Especially when the guy took a team higher than expectations.  Its funny how expectations change.  Preseason, if we had polled the MU nation about their feelings of ending with 12 and 6 in the BE, people would have been extremely happy about that record.  Now, anything less than a BE championship would be unacceptable if your calling for a coach's head.

I could understand THINKING about rolling Buzz's head if Buzz destroyed their season like a ND or Georgetown.  Or if he recruited 3 stars/worse and the future is looking bleak.  But both are not the case.  I respect a majority of posters but I think a small small SMALL number of people are disappointed with Buzz and those people are never going to be happy because they think its National Championship or bust.  They should have gone to UNC or Duke where that is actually the case.

I think most people want a team that is built around good kids that compete every game and will make a tourney run every few years.  If a tourney run happen every year, that would be great but making that the expectation on the program is unrealistic.

I think Jamil made a wrong decision.

Exhibit #1:
Just look at that roster: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/teams/roster?teamId=2483&sort=experience

TONS of frosh-soph. A few names we know well from Chi-town (Crittle, Dunigan, Catron).

They've already signed Kyle Singler's bro (6'6") and Jeremy Jacob (6'7").

What a glut at the Forward spot.

Exhibit #2: Does Oregon turn out NBA players like MU?

Oregon: 19

Marquette: 29

This really smells like a brokered deal for Kent. Think job security in exchange for "promised playing time."

Definitely NOT a good fit for Wilson. MU would have been better.

Chico's...my source was someone I trust a great deal on MU ball. I would gladly share with you with his permission:)

kmwtrucks

Gymbar, did your source tell you that Mu would be the choice recently or was that something from last year?

Big Papi

This could work out great for all parties as this smells of a transfer waiting to happen in a year or two.  He comes to MU when we have Fulce and Butler leaving with lots of playing time available for him.

Hmm .. agree with some of that, but .. I don't believe our team exceeded expectations.  We had 4 seniors, they were going to be slightly better than last year, and that's pretty much how it played out.

Of course, there's an asterisk because of DJ being injured.  Had he not, and we'd won a couple of the last 4 .. then I'd say we exceeded. -- Again, this based on YTD.   If something surprising happens in the next 3 weeks, well, that would be fantastic and exceeding expectations, especially now.

In any event, Buzz came in plus or minus what I expected of him as a coach YTD.

It's ok, I was kidding.  Ultimately it comes down to these 17 year old kids and it's hard to figure what they want.

romey

Maybe he's a Packer fan and wants the free green and gold gear?  ;)

Wilson - good riddance.  gymbar-fire your source who was bs-ing you all these months.

Anyone who wants to fire a coach after a single season is nuts.

I really don't mind us questioning his decision from a bball standpoint, but can we stop with the insinuations on Wilson's character?  He doesn't have the reputation as a bad kid.  Kent has pulled kids from the midwest before so it really isn't that far outside the rhelm of possibility that Wilson and him just hit it off.

I doubt there was any deal brokered.
