in a tough situation, i think one positive can be noted...

how can you not be continuously impressed with jimmy butler and his improvement?  regardless of his place on the team next year, i'm encouraged knowing he and hayward will be around. my question is, when will he start taking some outside jumpers? do you think that is buzz, or jimmy, in not shooting?

He'll start shooting when he realizes it's Marquette's team and not Jerel/Wes/Lazar's team.

When he went in for the alone dunk vs UConn, there was a slight hesitation to take it to the hoop. From surprise? Maybe, but it seems that he defers on the perimeter but takes it up inside.

I think Buzz should be encouraging Jimmy to be a little more aggressive.  With james, we had four players who would take their shot.  Now, if one of the three are on the bench, only two people shoot.  I think MU has a chance to pull some upsets if someone else can step up and I hope no one is discouraging him to take the shot.

Butler has an unbelievable ability to get offensive rebounds.  I am impressed with his progress and I hope someone tells him to take that jumper.

The guy has a genuine knack for knowing where to be and getting some boards.  You can't teach that.
He also always grabs rebounds at the height of his jump.  Undoubtedly the best rebounder on this team.

I would expect several double-double efforts from JB next year.
I'm starting to not be quite as worried about next year's squad.

Absolutely Jimmy is the silver lining.

0-4 without DJ - looks tough - but they have been in every game.  Admittedly escaping the 1st weekend will be tough now with the seed clearly slipping with DJ gone.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

Yeah dude...10 OFFENSIVE rebound?!  That's sick.

This season isn't over yet, and I know that next year we will in no way replace this year's senior class right away, but next year should be very, very interesting.

Butler does defer to the seniors, but he has a great stroke.  In JC, his 3 point percentage was like 43% I think.  He needs to unload a few.  But maybe Buzz wants him to be around the hole to get rebounds....don;t know.  But he can nail them from outside....great kid, great development.

He did have a good percentage, but he only attempted 45 3 Pointers in 29 games.  It's not exactly a big part of his game, and he's said that he's got to work on it over the summer.

i'd love to see him take, and hopefully make, a few jumpers in the game.  adding a 4th scorer would only help this team and especially take some pressure off the other 3
