Didn't show much sympathy.  The most that is really said is "I would never hope for injury of another player but he was a flopper."  I have gained a lot of respect for Louisville fans and their response to the injury and lost a lot of respect for Pitt fans.

No surprise... sPitt is the scum of the Big East.

You know, I understand respecting sympathy/understanding when a player goes down, but to tell you the truth I wouldn't much define a team's fan base by a chat board thread.  My guess is if Harengody went down, we wouldn't wax poetic about his contributions to his institution.  Personally I would feel bad for the guy, but really wouldn't care enough to post a reaction or start a thread in his honor.

Really, expect the worst (because that is the group that would care) and be surprised when it comes out differently.  At the end of the day any fan of b-ball will respect the good players and deep-down feel bad about an injury (unless of course you grow up in Philly where booing all injuries are encouraged).  My guess is any other reaction is posturing by a small minority and does not reflect the belief of the common fan.

My 2 cents, but a long winded way of saying I could care less about what some Pitt chat board says about DJ.

TallTitan34

Their wish came true.  They had a thread a few years ago where they were wishing Dom to get hurt.

At other Big East formus it seems everyone hates Pitt fans.

Jam Chowder

They're just pissed because he's been a big-time panther killer in his time at MU.

My opinion of sPitt is not from one thread but from four years of hearing their garbage about our team and our coach.  Like I said... they're SCUM.

Well he is a flopper, its gotten better, but his first two years he was "hurt" almost every game.  And he's got an edge to him on the court, they don't get to see the interviews and articles on the guy and see what a good person he is.  He's got a certain arrogance about him, which you like when he's on your team but hate when he plays for the opponent.

I guess I can see why other fans wouldn't like James, but who really cares.

CrazyEcho

1. It's not his fault his muscles would cramp.  He did his best to address it with fluids and tights.  Muscle cramps are debilitating and involuntary;  they're not his fault.

2. Every good college player has a certain swagger to him.

3. PiTTT fans are douchebags.  I hope they win the BET and lose in the second round of the NCAAs like they do every year.

Yeah, I grabbed front row seats tomorrow night, so if you see some buy getting the heck beat out of him up front tomorrow night, it will be me.  I want to make sure the refs here from at least one fan every time Blair lowers his shoulder to try to knock Zar or Dwight over.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

Nice seats!  If I see that - I will be down on the floor in a flash to help a bro out.  It'll be on - and both schools will be embarrassed  :o

In other notes, good to see Pitt fans worried about us, and doing the math of winning the BE.

Now, lets make their worst fears come true.  Fire up Marquette!

Hards Alumni

where were all of our threads lamenting the loss of UConn's Dyson when he went down.

maybe take a look in the mirror before starting threads like this.

Mirror?  Here is our thread on Dyson...

Pretty respectable.  You might also notice that Dyson's days at UConn probably aren't over. Different situation than James.

warriormom

Dyson is a Junior, the added aspect of James' career being over I believe adds to the situation.  And Dyson isn't a stand up person like Dominic.  As I recall, driving with suspended license and failing a drug test were in his past.

Agreed - I'll be down quicker than Jonathan Xavier

CAINMUTINY

I'm not going to get ad hominem on pitt and their fans; but nothing would be sweeter than seeing our boys win tonight.  I have a feeling Mcneal is going go off tonight.

PS--Its really too bad DJ is hurt......I wanted to see him and Fields really go at it tonight as we all know their hatred for one another is pretty apparent.

Marquette_g

Rocky - Fair point.

I just don't really care what a small minority of fans on a chat room message board of the Pitt Panthers think about our team.  Similarly, I did not suddenly think all Louisville fans were saints bc a few people chose to say some nice words about DJ.

Dyson's days could be over by his own choosing, as even with the injury he is still a pretty good pro prospect.

MR.HAYWARD

You cannot paint the entire Pitt fanbase with a wide brush based on one thread.  However, when it becomes thread after thread year after year and add in the BE wide hatred of Pitt fans and something becomes apparent.  It is not like they are Duke or UNC where everyone is going to hate them.  They have been successful but not that much more successful than a number of other BE teams over the last 4 years, including MU.  depite that they act like classless jerks in almost every situation and the entire BE hates them,  seems to be that there is a reason for that.  Maybe it is an inferiortiy complex to Penn state? or because their once proud football program is now basically ajoke?  IDK.

that is not what a 'flopper' is.  Having a cramp isn't a flop.  A flop occurs when you fall down in an attempt to draw a foul after contact.  Which is why pitt fans aren't just scum, they are idiots.

AlumKCof93

I typically root for BE teams in the NCAA tournament.  Part of me will want to root for Pitt, b/c I do think they are one of the top teams in the country.  But their fans, Fields, and Len Elmore make it tough to root for them.

Elmore is not calling the game tonight, right?  right?
