Anyone else going to the game at Pitt tomorrow? I'll be there with one non-MU friend. Got my tickets from the alumni association and have no idea where the seats are.

The Man in Gold

If they are in the same area as 2007, they will be in the top rows of one of the corners in the arena.  Given that the Pete is pretty small the seats aren't too bad, but they definitely could be better.

Spiral & I will be there.

On that note - and good suggestions for food in Pittsburgh?

The Man in Gold

Not sure about great food, but there are some pretty fun bars located along the North Shore next to PNC Park and Heintz field just a few miles away.

I've only been there a few times, but always enjoyed it.

Primanti Brothers.  It's been on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives for those who watch it.  My friends drove in from Chicago for the Georgetown game and stopped at Primanti Brothers on the way.  They said it was fantastic.

Primanti Brothers is a Pittsburgh institution. Meat, fries, and coleslaw on one sandwich! http://www.primantibros.com/

The O is another Pittsburgh favorite. Great greasy dive in Oakland (university area). Try the cheese fries after drinking lots of Yuengling (MMMM).

I went to grad school at Pitt, so if you have any more questions just ask. I might be able to help.

And yes, the Pete is small. So no bad seats really.

foreverwarriors

Absolutely Primanti Bros...they are located throughout the city.

absolutely incredible food.

I will be driving up from DC tomorrow afternoon...I'm in the upper deck, but do not have MU tix. Other than the MU sponsored event, are there any good pre-game watering holes that people might be hitting up?

Good question.  And FWIW, I just called the MU Alum office about the pregame reception and they said it was canceled??  Maybe they just didn't want *me* there :)

Looks like I'll be trying Primanti bros in a bit...

Well, the reception was being held downtown. I don't know why they didn't have it closer to the arena.

I'll be flying into Pittsburgh in the afternoon, and depending on the time will probably be heading to Oakland sometime before the game to get a bite and a drink. There are a lot of factors involved (the terrible traffic in Pittsburgh, my friend being on time, etc.)

Primanti and The O are on Forbes avenue. There are also a few bars on that street. Hemingway's was always a favorite of mine. There is also a place called Panther Hollow Inn on Forbes between Pitt and Carnegie Mellon that is decent. There are other bars in the area, but not of the type I frequent.

I'm in!  I'll be in our insurance co's suite.  ;D ;D ;D
Hopefully Wendell doesn't barge in and take the High Life.
