MU vs Pitt !
« on: January 21, 2007, 08:34:09 PM »
Significant quality win----super bonus points for on the road.
Fitz 4-6 on treys and looking for the trey first a welcome change------also DJ hitting 3 straight treys in the first half-----meanwhile 15 for 15 FTs to finish the game has to be some sort of a record for a 65% FT shooting team----all unusual for this team which underlines desire to win.

On Pitts part though there were things that contributed to our victory. First of all, I couldn't believe after last year that Dixon would have Gray switching onto DJ & Co.----this was ridiculous as we burnt them on this last year with DJ & Co beating him to the hole-----what I would have done is let Barro go out there and screen all he wants and have the defender on the dribbler simply slide behind Barro's screen, meanwhile leave Gray down in the hole as Barro is NOT going to hurt Pitt with treys or long twos. Dixon needs a brain transfusion for that one.

Also why Dixon has the ball going into Gray from the sideline all the time i didn't understand either----as he has his back to the double team------and a poor angle there for the jump hook toward the baseline & couldn't drag dribble through traffic into the middle after the first few successful attempts----I would have hit him from on top-----would be unstoppable there as he can't be doubled effectively in that event (in the lane) and he'd have a better angle on his jump hook----another brain transfusion in order there!

But TC did a good job in game planning----if Dixon is dumb enough to have Gray tight on DJ & Co on the switch, TC handled that properly. The more I see these other coaches----the more i appreciate TC.
