We were able to hang in there the whole game even with McNeal's shooting woes. Acker was solid. I really had a feeling we were going to get smoked today...I'm glad that didn't happen. Now let's turn it around and punch Pitt right in the mouth!

Reese did a great job leading the press break. I think we only turned it over once in the backcourt, on the long pass to Jimmy.

I tend to agree. If you would have told me McNeal would have shot 3-19 or whatever it was from the field and we'd be in it with 22 seconds left going into the game, I would have gladly taken our chances. Our guys continue to show us they will not lay down because one of their men is out. We just need to turn the energy into a W and hopefully our trip to the Zoo will provide us with just that opportunity.

Otherwise, the BE tourney becomes much more important.

i already said in another thread that we hung in there and probably would have won had a couple calls gone our way that didn't but most definitely should have...also thanks to mr. clark, ha

but yeah, minus Dominic James, McNeal's reallly bad day....AT Louisville...they SHOULD have smoked us but they barely got away.  we played very well.

You can't use that nickname when talking about a Lousiville game.  I have an instant negative reaction.  Try a different spelling.

I was impressed with Acker. I think starting gave him the confidence to step up a bit. He was solid. Not great...just solid.

nyg

Acker did a nice job breaking press all day.  Hit his first shot and didn't make another.  3 points, 3 assists and 3 boards.  Guess he did what he had to do, leave scoring to others.

Butler outstanding, 6 points, 10 boards.

Zar 16 and 10.

Wes, CBS player of game

Jerel....well, live and die by him.  Just bad day and timing.

Center - like all year, zippo. Please give us Mr. Riley, don't ever want to hear the word "project" or "injured/rehab" again.

Nice effort and fight, but if only two of those missed shots dropped.

Whoops, good call. Sorry!

For all the talk about UL's press leading up to this game...frankly, MU's pressure when they employed it was probably more effective.

Acker did a fine job breaking the press.  That said, I thought we really missed DJ today.  We almost never attacked the press to make them pay for it.  There were a couple times where we had numbers but we pulled out.  In the halfcourt, Acker never passed the ball inside and never penetrated, just dribbled around the perimeter until he passed to another guy on the perimeter.  He got beat on defense a bit, but the guys that beat him never seemed to score much, so that didn't kill us today.

Of course, if McNeal was 75% of his usual self, we are celebrating right now.

I feel a little better about our ability to compete after this game.
Calvin:  I'm a genius.  But I'm a misunderstood genius.
Hobbes:  What's misunderstood about you?
Calvin:  Nobody thinks I'm a genius.

No effort by Mcneal today. And there are no excuses for his lethargic play. Off day--bull! he did not hustle on defense and he was pitiful on offense.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

Good Lord! So knowing what we know about Jerel, you seriously believe he went out and dogged it today, one game removed from losing one of their key players? OK. Yeah, I can see that.

Buzz has just been handed the keys to a Ferrari with only three wheels.  Lets see how he drives it now.  Round one, nice job Buzz.

Let's hope he doesn't crash it in the Peterson Events Center on Wed. night.
