Georgia Position/Contingency Plan
« on: February 24, 2009, 09:10:58 PM »
******This thread will require some out of the box thinking, if you are hyperactive and construe this as Buzz bashing or cannot talk general college basketball please click back arrow now*******

I would hope Cottingham is always planning for the unexpected after his rude AD welcome last off season.  And since MUScoop.com is the leading think tank for MU basketball(don't laugh), I think it's time to go over some contingency plans if Buzz turns out to be the antithesis of his rhetoric.   I'm a firm believer in actions speak louder than words and the truth is, although the situation is completely different, Buzz has a history of flying the coop.

Despite my drunken rant a couple weeks ago and some reservations over his defensive prowess, I am a supporter of Buzz ever since I caught wind of him a few years ago from some A&M people.  Now I don't know what makes Buzz tick and we still don't know much about him, so lets say he is enticed by Georgia or some other school and leaves.

After we got done cursing him..... Are there any coaches who have caught your eye the past year, what would your list of potential candidates be as AD? heaven forbid we had to use it this off season.

Potential List:
1) Brian Gregory
2) John Groce
3) Kevin O'Neill

Any other coaches caught your eye this year?

Did you not read my disclaimer.   If you have no up and coming coaches you've become aware of this year please exercise your back arrow.

Id be pissed if he left and then some of our commitments backed out on us.  Erik williams only stuck with us because Buzz recruited him.

If you don't get help at Charter, please get help somewhere.

Why post this now?  We are on the verge of winning the big east.  Lay off the sauce!

I have a feeling after a million "why bring this up now" replies instead of up and coming coach suggestions, I'll want to crack open a couple.

I would hope Kevin O'Neill never makes a list again involving MU.  He was the right hire at the time but I can't see any scenario where he would be the right hire ever again at MU.

There are only a handful of jobs I would consider a step up from MU. These schools are not going to hire Buzz until he can prove he can win with his own players. Frankly, I do not see Buzz going anywhere as I am sure he appreciates the chance MU gave him. That is the advantage of hiring him quickly. If they hired Buzz after an exhausted search with several coaches turning us down, then Buzz could feel like he got the job as an after thought.

This isn't 1994.  We're not going to lose our coach to a middle of the pack SEC team.  Tennessee got their coach out of the Horizon.  South Carolina got theirs from the Sun Belt.  UGA is not grabbing a coach from the Big East.

Why are we even talking about this?  We have the biggest game of the year tomorrow and were talking about this?

Seriously?!?  On the eve of the first top 10 matchup in this state in 30 years you want to talk about this?

I feel bad for the "back arrow" buttons across the MU nation. They must have been abused after this post.

You're probably right.   When you look back on that guys career it's a waste.   He could have been very good/great, but because he can't commit he's just another guy.

Since the nancies are getting antsy, maybe a mod should lock down this thread until after the season.

Seriously Stone?   I just can't believe that thread a couple weeks ago was actually your doing.  I was convinced someone stole your laptop and was having some fun.

While I think this thread is ridiculous... If I had to make a list it would be

1) Brad Stevens
2) Doc Sadler
3) Stew Morrill

Most likely Buzz will leave to become an assistant at UGA
